Mikkellers tribute to the green gold.

33 cl. bottle. Pours a medium, long duration, ivory colored head, with extensive lacing, over a very slightly hazy light amber (SRM 7) body....nose is pine, light citrus, toffee/caramel, light floral honey.....taste is toffee/caramel, with floral honey tones, leading into light apricot, finishing with a soft bittersweet hop layer....mouth feel medium, slightly sticky, carbonation low. This is sweeter and has many more complex malt tones than many an "American" style IPA. The sweetness resembles the I/DIPA style more than that of the typical IPA, but without the larger hop backbone. It is in other words slightly unbalanced for my palate. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

Shared bottle @ Cardinal. Yet again Mikkeller delivers the goods. This is a rock solid IPA. And the aromas is rich of the green gold. It pours a white head and is golden in color. Medium body and tastes of citrusy hops and some sweet malts. Clean flavors. Leaves with a nice bitterness that lingers in the back of the mouth for a while. My kind of IPA.

Orange-amber coloured beer, a nice sized and good holding head. Sticks great to the glass. Decent bitter-sweet/sour taste, with a nice citrussy-caramel flavour. Seems a bit simple, but nicely good combined beer.

bottle from Bierkompass. Cloudy amber-brown colour, large off-white head. Hoppy aroma, slightly citrusy and green. Full-bodied, robust grainy malty background with lots of green, resiny hops and a touch of citrus fruit.

Tap @ beer temple. Pour deep, hazy amber, with a two-finger white head. Aroma of pine, grass, fresh fruit, slight toffee, plenty of hops. Sweet up front, and turns a little bitter towards the end. Medium body, with a lively, fizzy carb.

Tasty first rate IPA. Foaming initial pour, with slight hoppy aroma. Lots of lace at the end of this rapidly drunk well balanced IPA. Average mouthfeel. Citrus, tasty.

Draught at lbaren. Ive had this one bottled quite a few times, but it works even better fresh from tap. I know now. Reddish with a massively off-white head, it has loads of ressiney and exotic hops in the nose plus some malty, caremel notes. Taste is bitter-sweet, quite fruity, and lasting. Oily, softly carbonated.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2012 Being a newcomer in the beer rating business I often tend to give the highest score to beers that are very hoppy, malty, intense and strong, since I havent quite developed the heightened sense of smell and taste that many other raters seem to have. I prefer the vulgar, noisy beer that jumps up in my face and screams "ME SO HOPPY, BIG BOY!" over the elegant, quiet and mysterious one. But now I think Im starting to get it. After the first sip of Green Gold I thought that this is an ordinary, boring IPA with too little bitterness, but after a while it occurred to me that this is an elegant, quiet, extraordinary well crafted and perfectly balanced IPA. The aroma is dominated by the hops but there are also darker sweet notes. Im not sure if its mainly dark fruits or if its caramel, but there sure is lots of sweetness in there. The most obvious aromas are the usual grapefruit, resin and peach, and I think I get some faint raspberry as well. The taste is medium sweet and medium plus bitter, and again, its perfectly balanced. The bitterness is mellow and gentle without being toothless. The flavours follow the aromas, with ripe fruits being even more obvious. The body is hazy, medium amber with a huge, creamy, off-white head that never disappears. When I empty the glass there is still lots of foam left in the bottom of the glass (and I drank this masterpiece slowly), in addition to the huge patches clinging to the walls. On top of that the mouthfeel is smooth and pleasant, making this a wonderful beer!

330ml bottle, cloudy amber hue, with a pillowy white head, mild piney, leafy, minty floral hop nose with a zesty lime, lemon, grapefruit peel note, and some light toasted, caramel malt accents, within a faint peachy, orangeish aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a very nice yeasty, piney, leafy, cedary flowery hop bittering character, with some zesty, lemon, grapefruit, lime rind flavours upfront, and a minty leafiness undertone, leading towards a yeasty, zesty lime, lemon peel, strong leafy, grassy, minty hop bitterness finish.
