COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

330ml bottle courtesy of mr_h. Reddish amber brown, decent head. Toffee hop aroma. Tropical fruit & hop flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Not a typical IPA but still really good.

Bottle from state line Liqour aged at least a year - so you really aren’t supposed to age an IPA ( look at my cellar to see the reason for the unintentional aging) but I think it mellowed the bitterness to make a smooth brew that played up the caramel, malt notes in the beer. So from my standpoint it was a success, but perhaps not the same brew that Mikkeller envisioned.

Pours clear amber with a large, frothy off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy citrus (tangerine) and floral hops, light biscuit malt and tropical fruity esters. Flavor is heavy hops and medium bitterness, fruity esters, good supporting malt and a dry finish. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation.

Fra flaske på Humle i Annen mars-13: den trettende av i alt 19 i serien, og ordet inoffensive ble nevnt. IBU 72, men allikevel mild og lite dominerende. Mer ettersmak enn smak.

HoppyBudgie (833) - SOLA, NORWAY - MAR 12, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2013 Grass, prune on nose. Alot of dried fruit in taste. (From tasting of all Hop series Cardinal 11. March)
