COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Draft at RnH with the whole family during the Mikkeller Hop Tap Takeover Event. Pours a deep amber body. Aroma is pinesol cleaner. Mouthfeel is fresh and slightly spicy with notes of fresh pine.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place shared among a group of five locals. Pours a clear orange-copper color with a small off-white head that leaves a bit of lace- all 19 looked like this. Nice citrusy and piney hops in the aroma, backed by caramel malts. They’re also present in the flavor, along with resin and cereal. Some lingering bitterness. Light-bodied. Nice. The standout of the first 7 we opened, going in order from lowest alpha acid content to highest.

vyvvy (6731) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUN 29, 2011
Pours clear golden amber with a good sized soapy beige head. The aroma has quite a bit of smooth orange citrus, powder, milk caramel, light spice and some fruitiness. Medium body that’s lightly husky with fairly soft carbonation. The taste starts heavier on the hoppy side with pine, grapefruit, dry caramel malt, crackers and a lot of phenolic spice. The finish has more grapefruit and some fruitiness with quite a bit of resin and pepper. Nice IPA.

Abio (1868) - BERMUDA - JUN 25, 2011
Orange-amber coloured beer with a good sized and good holding head. Sticks nice to the glass also. Hoppy, citrus, light sweetened taste and smell. Smell of red fruits gets trough. Good biterness, that holds pretty long, also the fruity touch stays good.

330ml bottle from Cask & Kitchen. Pours a bright amber colour with a long lasting thick white head. Lightly scented with dried fruit edge. Delicate hop flavours not as strong as the Simcoe variety, still a good beer.

BoBoChamp (5878) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUN 19, 2011
33cl, new Danish brew Anno 2011, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex brew, slightly bitter and fruity, yet easy to drink, balanced, clear, rocky head, good brew

Rune (13507) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 13, 2011
100ml on tap at the beer festival in Copenhagen ’11. Near-clear, golden-brown body. Spotty lacing. Smell of dried and fresh fruity hops. Spiced fruity taste followed by pine needles and citrus fruits with underlying malty sweetness. Subdued bitter endnotes. Nice, but my score is a bit lower than for the Centennial version. (28.05.2011).

3.4
hallinghansen (3418) - Odense SV, DENMARK - JUN 12, 2011
Bottle @ Odense tasting. Clear amber body with a medium offwhite head. Aroma is hops, citrus, malt and fruit. Flavor is bittier hops, citrus, fruit and caramel notes.

3.5
Scopey (15690) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2011
Bottle at the Mikkeller Single Hop Series tasting at the Kernel Brewery. It pours hazy amber, with a thick off-white head and moderate carbonation. The nose is sweet pineapple, mango, orange and resin. The taste is orange, mango, pine, old wood and sweaty sock, with a moderate bitter-dry finish. Decent hop, decent IPA.
