3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
100ml on tap. Golden-brown to a patchy surface. Dried fruits to the nose. Fine taste of resinous hops together with hints of prunes, plums and pine, added by sweet malts. Rather jam-like. Bittersweet ending. Tasty (Copenhagen Beer Festival, 28.05.2011).
UPDATED: DEC 19, 2017 Bottle picked up at The Party Source from backlog notes. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, some floral notes, grapefruit citrus, just a hint of spicy hops, doesn’t seem as old as most. janribbe (51) - SWEDEN - AUG 3, 2017
En APA med betoning på beskan som ändå är relativt snäll och maltig. Humlenarom och smaker relativt platta med toner av aprikos. glennmastrange (2942) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - AUG 19, 2016
Bottle. Moderate roasted grain for the malt, moderate to heavy pine and orange juice for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with notes of wood, date, sherry and brown sugar. Head is average sized, frothy, beige with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is medium reddish brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, slick with a soft to lively carbonation and a dry finish. Nice IPA with a lot of fruit in the nose, but just a touch out of balance in the flavor. kraddel (9338) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 15, 2016
Drank side by side with the 19 other variants of the serie. I would like to note up front that - since these beer’s are no longer in production, they were not fresh. this rating should thus be viewed with that in mind, and can shed a light on the ’ageing’ differences between the variants. They were probably better fresh...
Pours rather clear, dark amber, small white foam. Smell is still very fruity, rich, tropical. Taste is bitter, with a nice pine, very tropical taste. I would not rate this as high if this was the fresh taste, but given the age, it’s pretty good !!! rouhlas (3986) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - SEP 8, 2015
From old notes. From tap. Light hazy orange color with off white head. Hoppy and malty aroma, citrusy fruity, tropical fruits, light pine, grass, caramel. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

12oz bottle from the Party Source in Cincy-Kentucky ($3.50). Copper-brown pour with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of lemon tea, grass, grapefruit, caramel. Tastes of biscuit malts, toffee, orange peel, herbal, spice. Fairly bitter in the somewhat dry finish. Medium palate. Interesting. Don’t think this was anywhere near fresh seeing as it’s retired - so grain of salt here. SinH4 (6573) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - NOV 25, 2014
As goes for all the Hop Series beers I’ve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Concentrated Grapefruit. Not so much pines as expected (due to the old bottle I guess). Lingering bitterness, but lighter than the Challenger. Despite the age still quite nice. Thechasm442 (1006) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 3, 2014
Bottle, no date, for sure not fresh as this beer is retired. Oh well, here goes! Served in a tulip glass. The beer pours a light brown with a fingers worth of off white head and lots of sediment floating around. Unfiltered I see. Not much lacing is left. Aroma is somewhat pungent. It is definitely and old beer. Citrus, stale pine, and bread. Taste is similar to the smell. Stale pine resin, citrus, bread, and caramel. It’s somewhat sticky but leaves your mouth rather quickly, leaving not much of an aftertaste. I wish this beer was fresh, I feel like it had a lot of potential, but the old age was very obvious with this one. wvhoran (477) - Tasmania, - SEP 5, 2014
Bottle. Hazy dark orange with a nicely lasting off-white head. Obviously not fresh, so a kind of experiment I guess. Still a pretty fruity nose, orange, grapefruit, rather onion-y as well, caramel malt, biscuit malt. The flavour is sweet malt, very smooth, orange and some grapefruit, mild bitterness. Unexciting but ages decently for an ipa. Dogbrick (14333) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 5, 2014
Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a medium thick foamy white head that diminishes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of musty hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of grainy malt, ripe fruit and resiny hops. The finish is grainy malt and mild fruity hops. I assume this bottle is older despite being bought recently, but it is tough to blame the store and not the brewer for not providing dating. Slightly above average overall.
