COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

2011-08-10. Crisp orange amber body with a small beige head. 3+ Interesting hops. Grassy hops with a very lightly earthy character. Quite different from the others in the series. 6+ Grassy earthy aroma, wort like notes. 6+ Average bodied palate. Nice, hop character is very different. Nice beer but not sure I love it. Bottle @ home. Red orange appearance with an off white head. Really nice floral, slightly citrusy hoppy nose. Resiny, orange/grapefruit citrus hoppy, sweet malty flavor. Grapefruit citrusy aftertaste. My favorite of the series so far.

marcus (10676) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 16, 2011
Bottle from City Beer. Pours copper with a thick beige head and a piney aroma. There is a slightly off toffee flavor with a sour and bitter finish. Not a good hop for this series.

phaleslu (10670) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 11, 2011
Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place shared among a group of five locals. Pours a clear orange-copper color with a small off-white head that leaves a bit of lace- all 19 looked like this. This one smelled like stinky wet grass for the most part, and hay and grass linger in the nose. The flavor is better, with tea, toast, earth, and wet grains in addition to the grassy hops. Light-bodied and bitter. One of the weakest in the series.

33 cl bottle.
Pours hazy orange color with a large head. Aroma of sweet fruits, some caramel malts, mild pine needle notes and hops. Flavor of goose berries, resiny hops, caramel malts and mild yeast notes, some apricot on the aftertaste. Medium to strong carbonation, somewhat bitter fruity palate. Decent.

Draft @ Moeder Lambic.

All 19 in this hop series are shared with my husband, Anton. It’s hazy bronze with a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of oranges, hay, caramel and slightly overripe peel of grapefruit. The flavour is sweet with notes of flower, hay, oranges, caramel, and the finish is dry with a light bitterness.

Sample at de molen monthly tasting. Decent white head. Clear amber pour. Nice citrus bitterness.

Part of a first flight of five out of nineteen 4 day test. Medium dense yellow head over foxy-amber beer. Solvent; later weeds as nettles and a bit of coloured malts. Sweetish, sweet-cooked Belgian endives (chicory), with a typical Belgian Endives bitter finish. Not really balanced. Hint at roastiness retronasal. Becomes catty warming up and acquires liquorice notes. Medium bodied at best, but slick; impression of hopoil but still the finish is a tad watery. Better than the sum of its parts, but I’m still a bit disappointed by the Challenger result.
