This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bathory (458) - Kverneland, - NOV 29, 2012
Aroma ofbred fruits, almost like a flamish beer. Flavour are caramel, pine and some trippel fruityness. An interesting one indeed.

Dandm (125) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 31, 2016
This dank old thing is being compared to its sister Mikkeller Galena. Resin, caramel, soy sauce, melted cheese. Milky texture. Low bitterness, higher malt. Very short finish. There is some herb and citrus to be found if you look hard. I think the Galena has aged better overall.

kraddel (9338) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 15, 2016
Drank side by side with the 19 other variants of the serie. I would like to note up front that - since these beer’s are no longer in production, they were not fresh. this rating should thus be viewed with that in mind, and can shed a light on the ’ageing’ differences between the variants. They were probably better fresh... Pours rather clear, dark amber, small white foam. Smell is aged, bit cardboard, but also madeira. Taste is bitter, dusty - by age - , a bit fruity in the back. Mild pine notes. OK bitterness.

rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - SEP 30, 2015
bottle. Amber with one finger head. I’ve had a lot of beers from this series by now, and this is certainly well past its prime, but I couldn’t pass it by when I saw it in a bargain bin. Substantial malt base. Plenty of caramel sweetness. Fairly oxidized hops at this point, medium bitterness. Not bad, but I’ve enjoyed others in this series a lot more.

rouhlas (3986) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - AUG 29, 2015
330ml bottle. Dark golden orange color with off white head. Hoppy aroma, grassy, light floral, light fruity, malty too. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Lunkie (1966) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - AUG 25, 2015
Floral hop malt aroma. Amber colour poor head and lacing. Malt herbal grassy floral flavour. Smooth lingering palate.

vanvenlo (1927) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - AUG 25, 2015

SeniorZozo (1576) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUL 15, 2015
the cascade of yesteryear. It’s smooth and fruity but not too bitter or citrusy. Clearly noble-ish hops. As always, a good beer from Mikkeller.

Huhzubendah (3775) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 2, 2015
Dark copper body, mild haze, half inch of tan head. Earthy, malty, herbal, grassy aroma. Malt forward. Ok flavor, but certainly not fresh. Please put a date on beers meant to be consumed fresh.

crossovert (14146) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2015
Draft (at seemingly an old age). HAzed amberish pour, spicier hop with a pleasant herbal character too.

ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - MAY 1, 2015
Poured from a 330 ML bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a malt and grass aroma. Appearance- Pours an orange-like color with visible sediment. Taste- Has a grass flavor with some standard IPA hop bitterness. Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate cabonation Overall- Another average beer.
