This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Dogbrick (14316) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 5, 2014
Pours a cloudy amber color with a lively pour and a thick frothy white head. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grainy malt, herbal hops and fruit. Medium body with flavors of fruity hops, grainy malt and mild spice. The finish is moderately bitter with a short herbal hops aftertaste. I assume this bottle is older despite being bought recently, but it is tough to blame the store and not the brewer for not providing dating. Decent overall.

Bottle from Dranken Geers. Amber colour, white foam. Medium carbonation. Fruity taste with malty character and some caramel. Light hoppy bitter aftertaste. This beer was maybe a bit too old.

JohnRMurdoch (5149) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - JUN 8, 2014
330ml bottle from BrwDog Online. Muddy reddish amber brown, not much head. Grain hop aroma. Dry resin flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Weak hop.

Bottle thanks to wyzzywyz22. Poured a slightly murky orange gold with a medium swede. Some sweet malts, grapefruit hops. Nice, drinkable, just something that didn’t have me raving about it.

16/III/14 - 33cl bottle @ Erwin’s ponton - BB: no date on cap, just a weird serial number which I didn’t write down (2014-291) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!

Bit cloudy, red to dark orange beer, creamy yellowish head, bit stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: some almonds, sweet, caramel, bit sugary, little metallic. MF: ok carbon, medium body, smooth texture. Taste: nice bitterness, caramel, sweet and malty, fudge. There is nothing IPA-ish about this beer any more. All the hops are gone. Aftertaste: some citrus, bit fruity, malty, grains, soft bitterness. A "best by" date would come in handy, yes.

Botella de 33 cl de 2d2dspuma tomada en abril de 2013. Buena, como todas las demás de la serie, esta bastante suave con toques apreciables a hierbas y lúpulo y ligero amargor final. Bastante buena y como no y como las demás, para repetir.

wyzzywyz22 (2108) - Wirral, Merseyside, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2014
Bottle, Brew Dog.com. Amber pour with a middling off-white head. Fragrant hop, sweet malt and citrus nose. Earthy hop flavour with some sweet malt notes. Relatively subdued bitterness levels. Decent but nothing earth shattering.

weark (924) - Morges, SWITZERLAND - JAN 14, 2014
Bottle from Erzbieschof / Hazy amber color with creamy persitent beige head, good lacing / flower, grassy, hints of citrus an mango, malty aroma / flower, spicy, malty flavor/ light-medium body, light bitterness, soft carbonation, sweet, little caramel grassy finish / lake of bitterness and flavor, hops designed for lager

maekchu (4104) - Hirakata, JAPAN - JAN 1, 2014
Bottle from Yamaichi. Caramel, rich perfumey hops, some earthiness. Cloudy, dull orange/amber color. Rough, sort of peppery initial/ mild hopping plus slightly sweet malt notes / very light finish, and it dissipates too quickly. Light-medium body. Good enough. A bit light and watery.
