English: This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 20 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

330ml bottle. Pours a murky chestnut brown, with a large off-white head, which lasts reasonably well, and leaves decent lacing. Spicy, peppery and slightly floral hops notes mix with some caramel and toast malt notes in the aroma. Strongly spicy hops up front, with a bit of peppery bite, lead into some toast and caramel in the mid-palate. More spicy hops give the beer a nice, dry finish. This is quite an interesting beer. Since first trying a single hop IPA I have wanted to try one made with Saaz hops, and this is much what I would have expected: the hops profile of a pilsener, amped up and backed by a bit more body. It’s unusual, but it works pretty well.

12oz bottle from Party Source in Kentucky/Cincy: Amber pour, thin beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, grass, sweet perfume, citrus. Tastes are sweet caramel, pine, floral, cereal, mineral, apricot, light even bitter. Strange.

From old notes. 330ml bottle at home. Light hazy golden orange color with off white head. Hoppy and malty aroma, light fruity, grassy, light pine, caramel. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Bottle at Delirium Hoppy Loft Bar Brussels. Orange-brown with a fine head. Huge lemon nose, some yogurt and acid, smells somewhat off. Sweet, lemony flavor, grass, citrus hop. Nice bitterness. Very tangy lemon, possibly an infection, though it seems to be, or at least blend with, the saaz flavors.

Bonito ambar anaranjado. Agradable aroma lupulado. Excelente textura, muy agradable y perfectamente combinada con el gas. Llena la boca y mezcla bien los tonos. Bastante amarga al final, deja caer previamente un buen equlibrio de flores y fruta con cierto dulzor. Rica.

Draft (at seemingly an old age). Not one of my favorite hops (a rarity cause I like them all) but showcases it decently, very floral.

Not well balanced as mikkeller usually are. Cloudy beer with herb notes and medium bitter end.

Total Wine, delaware: ok ok ok... I know this is probably too old but i figured why is TW selling it? In any case it pours like all the others in the series brown with an off-white head. Aroma is very earthy eith toffee notes. Taste is bitter at the front with a malty backbone. Not one of their best.

As goes for all the Hop Series beers I’ve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Saaz was earthy, floral and bready. Taste is sweet-bready, nice bitterness. Lots of malts, Lager-style, but easy to drink.

"Interesting addition to their hop series. Saaz hops are great in a pilsner, not quite enough for a beer with this much body or malty backbone. Nice in the aroma but no follow through I’m flavor or feel..."

Wombata (627) - Kobe, JAPAN - SEP 4, 2014
Bottle. Aroma: Roasted caramel, sweet malt, floral, earth. (Day 2: floral, spice--ginger, buttery spice, nutmeg), Palate: Light-medium bodied. Flavor: Surprisingly mild, roasted caremel and lightly sweet malt, sharp grassy, uplifting spicy and tangy hop. (Day 2: Sweat, bready malt, bitter grassy hop, yeasty). Comment:
