This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Hazy amber beer, good pale cream coloured head. Semi soft and semi dry palate. Minerals. Lactose and lemon citrus. More cream towards the finish which has a minerally carbonated bite. Slight bitter aftertaste. Nice IPA!

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a clear golden with a lacing off-white head. Lovely, amazing coconut aroma - Sorachi Ace is so distinct. Medium body, some fruitiness but the amazingly complex Sorachi Ace overpowers everything and leaves a tough biterness. I can’t help it, but I’m totally in love with this hop. 040511

Bottle at CPK, London. Pours cloudy, amber-gold with a big, white foam head. Pine and caramel on the nose with some ripe orange. Medium sweet flavor with sticky pine, ripe fruits, light toast and caramel. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Sticky, resinous finish with some dry and ripe fruits, more caramel, mild earthy bitterness, some toasty bread. Nice.
