bartlebier (3946) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - OCT 7, 2013
Backlog: 33cl bottle Geers 2012, sampled Summer 2012. Rating this from notes, yet still asynchronously "side by side" with the Tettnang Hopfenkrone Pils: the confrontation proves that the delicate grass, citrus & white pepper Tettnanger seems to be an ideal Pils/pale ale hop, and easily loses its edges when confronted with caramalty Vienna or darker malts, where it leaves a somewhat tired and besieged impression. Remember this beer was dominated by tasty base ESB-like caramalts, given an indefinite citrus & minty edge. Extra points for establishing a precedent with the brave uncool didacticism of this series. Valgreen (768) - DENMARK - SEP 7, 2013
Tap @ fairbar Aarhus. Slightly clouded dark orange, medium off white head, nice lacing. Aroma, it feels old, not mich hop aroma left, malty, smells like a tuborg classic. Taste, better than the aroma, but still old, malty, slightly hoppy, some berrie motes. Svesse (8580) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 7, 2013
(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 27 July 2013) Hazy dark amber colour with dense, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, toast, grass, hay, dried apricots and slightly earthy hops. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, treacle toffee, apricots and a grassy, earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Interesting with only noble hops in an IPA, but this worked out quite well. Nice one. olio (10168) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 3, 2013

Tap at Brewdog, Leeds. This has the exact same aroma as the first beer I ever drank, about 30 years ago. That was Wards Bitter, brewed up until 1999 in Sheffield. It tasted not unlike it too! Sold.. to the gentleman with the big nose..
