from Erzbierschof - pours a hazy amber-orange beer with no foam left; aroma of blood oranges dominates; a good malt backbone, some astringency, fairly bitter with more hoppy notes of bitter oranges in the finish
Our 4th old as 2012 mikkeller single hop. Low carbonation, lots of very fine sediment. Not my favourite hop. Off-milk and overripe fruit smell. Low bitterness. Dairy texture. Yeasty, milky aftertaste. The worst-aged of the single-hops so far. Pleasant and interesting in the mouth, not so good before and after. drpimento (3761) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 24, 2016
This is getting old so it’s no surprise that there’s almost no hop aroma or flavor. Hop bitterness, sure, but that’s about it to match the caramel malts. A pity. rouhlas (3784) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - AUG 20, 2015
330ml bottle at home. Light unclear orange color with off white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, caramel, bready, fruity, grassy. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. SeniorZozo (1875) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUL 15, 2015

bottle. Amber with two finger head. I’ve had a bunch of these now, and this follows the standard of a substantial caramel malt base. Moderate sweetness. Hops are bitter and a bit earthy. Decent, but not amongst my favorites in this series.

Bottle - good size foamy head, murky light brown color, big pine hop aroma and flavor, moderate sweet malt backbone, not bad overall

Bottle, 0.33l. Hazy dark orange colour with medium beige head. Nice lacing. Lots of floating sediments. Citrusy aroma. Taste starts fruity, sweet and finishes with moderate bitterness with hint of spices. Overall very good IPA. Joel (114) - Massachusetts, USA - JAN 4, 2015
Pours reddish copper with sediment from my careless pour. The mild aroma has caramel, bread with a mildly spicy and subtle hop presence. Moderate carbonation. Has a clean malt flavor of biscuit and caramel with a quick floral note that quickly fades. Finishes with a mild hop bitterness that is slightly spicy and leaves a lingering spicy/peppery flavor. This one was brewed for educational purposes and to rate it alongside other beers is probably a disservice. I love this concept and appreciated the experience that Mikkeller is providing with this offering.

As goes for all the Hop Series beers I’ve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Bready, earthy-bitterness. Not so classic IPA-hops aromas in there. But the bitterness gives a nice finish. slowrunner77 (12895) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 29, 2014
"a nice fruity aroma greets the nose. other than that, though it was a pretty average beer. nothing bad but nothing that stood out in the flavor. ibus in the 30s are too low for an ipa."
