Very very special. Real hot chili in the finish but still it is really à stout. Very brave and very impressive...

Pretty much a let-down. Habanero’s are one of the hottest peppers on the planet, and there was no heat in this beer at all. None. Zero. Zilch. A bitter chocolate/coffee-ish aroma, but VERY light. Flavor carries over the aroma with light chocolate/coffee combo, but it’s just...very blah. Not only did it fail as an Impy Stout, it failed as a beer called a Habanero Stout too. On tap at the Livermore Saloon. It pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is cocoa powder, chocolate and toast. I wasn’t getting any pepper. The flavor, however, had a nice mild heat to it with chocolate, bright peppers and a roasted finish. Pretty good stuff. Surprisingly understated. On tap at Ei8ht Ball. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, sweet pepper, light heat. Flavor of spicy habanero, roasted malt, bitter chocolate. Slightly chalky texture. Definite heat, mostly upfront, and initially it doesn’t linger around long. But it does start to add up on the palateLots of roastiness. A pretty good chili, heat builds as you drink.

This beer has a little of the habanero flavor but none of the spiciness. It’s smooth and tastes okay.

Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Good roasty aroma. Nice bigger coffee. More nice roast and coffee notes than expected, I like that. Just a light habanero pepper kick in the finish, but it’s very light. Not even a kick really, just more of a light pleasant heat that’s pretty well blended in the rest of dark roasty malt flavor. Maybe that’s because this is an older keg, who knows how old these Mikkellers are. Black color, though not completely opaque. A lighter clear red bit visible around the edges. Little thin brown head, couple bits and splotches of lace. A nice color, overall. Good dark chocolate, cocoa nib aromas. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Bigger, chewier texture. More dry finish. Good bigger bitter taste, nice light peppery kick. Minimal sweet, I like the overall bitterness. A nice light peppery heat in the finish. I enjoyed this one... Draft.Poured a black color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, chocolate and ground pepper corns aroma. Medium to heavy toasted dark chocolate malt and pepper flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Draft to taster. Loole good; a mostly opaque coffee with beige head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells solid; dark malt, bitter chocolate, roast, and pepper spice. Tastes like it smells with less of a chocolate presence and a nice, pleasantly balanced mouthfeel with a mild heat presence that’s noticeable but not overdone. Enjoyable. On tap. Pitch black with mocca head. Aroma of bitter dark chocolate, cacao, chili and roasted notes. Taste is a bit astringent, chocolate, cacao, chili, roasted notes with a long roasted finish with chili heat. Nice.
