A truly amazing beer. The piney/grassy notes of the IPA remained, but there was also a nice Brett fink to it.

Light and almost fruity. IPA taste does not overwhelm with hop flavor n perfectly balanced and really good.

Batch 2 Nov 2012 Bottle from the recent Portland trip. I probably wouldnt have bought this if Id seen that it was a year old, but I didnt notice at the time and the age seems to have brought out the brett while leaving plenty of hop aroma.

Pours bright straw gold with an ample white head. Aroma is a huge blast of candied grapefruit, peach/tropicals/pineapple juice, brett (very much saying "Anchorage"). Black pepper and an aroma that transitions to diesel onions all too soon and leaves you wondering where the lovely fruit went. Rounded flavor, the expected grapefruit pith and white wine and pepper, again the fuel component, not a lot of sweetness coming in from the malts, brett playing as much a role in the long finish as the hops. This one has a great aroma at first sniff, losing a bit of appeal as one breathes deeper. Flavors not quite as compelling, full mouthfeel, oily but not hot. I feel like this one is really close to gelling into a marvelous creation, but it falls short and the result is not just mediocre but actively distasteful. The pieces come apart, the aroma is a caricature of itself, and Im left with a beer that starts ok but becomes tiresome within the first half of the bottle.

Aroma is brett, grassy hops, pineapple and lime. The flavor is lemons, lime, grapefruit, citrus, fruit, earthiness and a tart/bitter and very dry finish. Among the best Mikkeller IPAs Ive had.

Pops super easy, leaving a nice smoking gun effect wafting out of the bottle. Someone said they had batch 2, I cant find any batch # on this, and Ive had it for about 1.5 years, so prob. batch 1. The brett took hold of this one and doesnt let go. Likely hit an extra round of bottle carbonation by the amount of carbonation and sediment. An average IPA sits in there, but this is so brettd that it is hard to get to. Def. hit the farmhouse aspect, which Im cool with, but surprised the score is so high as it has to alienate people. Hard to call, aftertaste is funky (kinda too much) but the burp is sweet-tasty funk. Im happy with it, but you might want to drink this fresh if you dont want super funk.

750 ml bottle from Dutchs. Batch #2, Nov/2012. I figured it would still be good, though. And I was right. Pours a hazed pale gold with a big, rocky, soft cream-colored head. Aroma of lemon, florals, grass, bretty funk, soap, straw, and herbs. Flavor of lemon, lemongrass, florals, soap, grapefruit peel, bretty funk, grass, and tea. Light-bodied, with soft carbonation and a bitter, funky mouthfeel. Really nice, a year-plus out.
