Tasted on 5/14/13 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle purchased at Top’s. Pours cloudy orange/yellow with a thick white head that slowly recedes to a thin collar of lace. The nose is really interesting, with grapefruit, lemon, resin hops, grass, spicy yeast, plenty of funk, and some light bread malt. The flavor is much the same with the bread malt up front, moving to the lemon and funky, spicy yeast, and finishing with plenty of bitter grapefruit and resin hops. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long spicy yeast and bitter grapefruit/resin hops finish.
Bottle of about a year old, bought at Gedeelde Vreugde and shared with Goedele. Tightly cobweb-lacing, egg-white, somewhat irregular, moussy, stable head over an initially near-clear, warm orange-tinged peach blonde beer with lively sparkling, hazy with sediment. Aroma very Bretty but in a onedimensional kind of way ('laboratory Brett'), yet still very pleasant, combined with the hops and malts providing impressions of old Camembert cheese, fermenting gooseberries, moldy old oranges, stale grape juice, white raspberries, old white bread, sweaty cheese spread, damp hay, goat stable, old urine somewhere. Juicy, fruity, notably estery onset, peach, grapes, melon and a lot of green gooseberries, sweetish with tart edges - yet no explicit sourness. Medium, bit minerally carbonation, supple and lean, doughy body, a tad oily, soggy bread, leading to a dry, spicy, bit earthy and cheesy finish, lots of abbey cheese and cheese spread, bready yeasty notes and old dry grapefruit peel hop bitterness. I feel the combination of Brett with hoppiness is always in some or other way indebted to Orval and this too is in certain ways a grandchild of the great amber trappist ale standard, but has a modern, American feel to it which I can appreciate; full and bready, dry, very cheesy (aging of the hops, no doubt) and, even if a bit 'simple' in its Brettanomyces effect, clearly making its point as a 'farmhouse IPA'. Enjoyed it, not sure if this bottle is worth its relatively high price, though. Then again, it is an interesting bottle to keep as a relic with the melting face and all (I've seen it many times before finally purchasing it) so that's worth something too, I guess... minihame2 (788) - Oulu, FINLAND - JAN 5, 2018

(Bottle) Cloudy, pale yellow opaque body with a big, frothy white head. Yeasty aroma with pear, bread, peach, slightly nutty, some lemon; musty. Light- to medium-bodied, bubbly. Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is bretty yeast, citrus fruit, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a light crisp fresh tart citrus hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
