Danish: En vild belgisk ale brygget på: vand, malt (pale og cara), lys kandis, humle (hallertau og styrian golding), gær og brettanomyces. Lagret 7 måneder på hvidvinsfade.

English: It’s Alive!!! Indeed it is. This Belgian Ale has been aged on White Wine barrels to give it that touch of alcohol, while the Brettanomyces give the tartness. Complex but well balanced beer.

37.5 cl bottle. Pours hazy amber witha big foamy head. Not sour at all but a nice funk, very mild tartness. mandarin, wood, and a big vinous character to this. Growing on me. Pretty good.

Not nearly as good as the regular Alive. The flavors in this one seem to be fighting each other. The funk is too strong. The wine notes taste off to me and it doesn’t have something to tie them together.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours hazy dark amber with a foamy/creamy dirty beige head. Aroma of "heavy" white wine, oak, sour light pitted fruit. Goes bubble gum a bit. Med + body. Flavor is light sour, winey, light pitted fruit with a lot of oak.

Clear deep golden pour with a fizzy white head. Aroma was musty, light funk cheese, grainy, very vinous. Love the white wine presence. Flavors were lightly sweet, bready with notes of brett, vanilla, oak and white wine. Fizzy mouthfeel, somewhat syrupy with a nice coating factor. Not sour by any means yet a nice ’wild-ness’ to it. Awesome stuff.

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours amber with a pretty off-white head and a chardonnay aroma. There is a light fruit and wine flavor with an oaky finish.

I can see where they were going with this, and I generally like mikkeller beer. I want to say that it was a well-Rounded beer full of oak and wine flavors, but it comes across with sweaty/bad breath flavors and aromas. If you pull it apart it might be due to charred oak from the barrel. In any case, I’m not a fan.

Bottle at Dans with friends. Pour is deep orange with a fluffy white head and decent lacing. Floral, medicinal, chalk, light wood, funk, and pears in the aroma. Taste is bready, band-aid, cobwebs, apples, pineapple, medicinal, and light funk, but still pretty smooth. Medium body with high carbonation. Pretty different, but cool.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, thanks to Steve for the pour! Dark orange-red pour with white head, aroma has notes of sour grain, vanilla, touch of white grape, hints of lactic, white vinegar, slight funky notes as well, with some medicinal notes. Taste is a mix of dirty shoe, sweaty sock, some hints of white fruit, touch of earth, hints of ashy char notes, touch of grape, finishing fairly sweet, ashy. Weird as hell, the ash is very odd.

Bottle @ Dan’s house, courtesy of steve_0. Thanks Stephen! Clear, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Funky, white grape, spicy yeasty, pear, herbal aroma. Tangy, bandaid, white wine, light oaky, a touch funky, apple, pear, mild lemon flavor. A little off but fun to try.

12.7 oz bottle to oversized snifter. Looks good; a cloudy brown with good carbonation and off-white lacing. Smells good too; sweet, malty, and tart/funky with notes of the wine barrels present. Tastes like it smells, but not quite as good, and with a fairly dry, average mouthfeel. Still, really pleasant beer; just not worth $1/oz.
