Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Pours a somewhat hazy burnt orange with a frothy, dense head with good stability that leaves heavy lacing. Aroma is not very strong; citrus hops. Taste is bright and sweet, with toasted malt flavors, at first. It has a sour middle, and a moderately bitter, hoppy finish with hints of orange rind and pine trees. Medium body and carbonation, with plenty of frothy head in each sip.

Brett aroma with fruits. Amber color with white head. Fruits, malts, bitterness in flavor. Medium body, smooth, medium carbonation. Easy to drink.

Mikkeller It's Alive, Belgian Wild Ale, 8.0 %ABV. Bottle bought in Pivoljub, best before 17.08.2022 XD Disclaimer - If this beer was judged according to ratebeer.com and BJCP2015 guidelines (Belgian Golden Strong Ale (25C)), the points would be quite low due to Brett "infection". That's why I would preferr to add in a subcategory from American Wild ales - 28A - Brett Beer (even though the beer is not American). Aroma - Aroma is very complex and starts slightly soury, reminiscent of cherries or even a cherry brandy. Then enters the Brett with all of their funk that gives off scents of hay and horse stable, mixed with sweet malty and candy sugar notes. Underneath the funk you can also discern the spicy, peppery nature of Belgian yeast-induced phenols and some minor notes of earthy hoppyness. (11/12) Appearance: Orange, copper-like colour, clear. Dense off-white head with very good retention time. (3/3) Flavor: Starts with a fruity taste that also includes some soury notes. Somewhere in the middle the earthy bitterness from hops starts to show and lasts well into the finish. The last come the funky notes from brett like hay and damp horse, but are less prominent than those in the aroma. The finish is more or less dry. (16/20) Mouthfeel: Medium to light body, high carbonation and moderately efferviscent character. Only slight warmth is felt from the alcohol. (4/5) Overall impression: Interesting beer, an Orval clone. Tasty but not my preferred style of beer (not a brett fan, yet). I slightly miss the sweetness in the taste. (7/10) Score: 41 - Excellent - read the disclaimer

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2017 tastes like great Belgian dirt. divine Belgian dirt with notes of muted stable and wet blanket.

As a big Orval fan I enjoyed this one very much. Some candy sweetness, layered with some hints of earth and bitterness and grass taste afterwards.

24-09-17 // bottle shared at Zwanze Day 2017 @ Mon Petit Café Stuttgart. Thanks for sharing! Hazy amber golden, small head. Taste of green apples, citrus but also some cardboard and weird herbal notes.

Calisky (3150) - ALSACE, FRANCE - OCT 18, 2017
Cuivrée trouble, bonne mousse. Nez levuré, brett et fruits jaunes. Gout sur les bretts, levures, fruits jaunes confits, note sucre caramel, houblon, bien acidulé et amer. Bon corp. Fin amere sur les bretts.

Pours a hazy brown color with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma of Brett funk, sweet candy sugar, toasty malt, and some light floral notes. Heavy sweet malt flavors with a bit of candy sugar, figs, dates, Brettanomyces funk, floral spiciness, and a hint of bitterness. Well carbonated and full bodied mouthfeel. Nice astringent finish. Pretty classic!

As close as you can come, to a real belgian ale. Great body, lots of volume and taste.

alex_leit (5248) - Minsk, BELARUS - AUG 20, 2017
Easily misted, dark golden beer, very good foam. Aroma: old hay, strawberries, spices, herbs, malt, flowers. Taste: very dry, malt with pear, bitter, slightly chalky, light acidity, white wine, warming, slightly citrus and vodka. Not bad.

BenL8 (298) - SWITZERLAND - JUL 23, 2017
On tap at Mikkeller Berlin. The Brett makes this really great. Aroma is very spicy, a bit funky, something mushroomy, sweet Candi sugar; nice complexity, lots of aromas. Flavour is also somewhat funky, nice maltiness, medium sweet, some acidity, spicy, refreshing. Brilliant!
