Cloudy amber hue with an expectation of a 120 equal. Yes, it is. Alcohol forward and hoppy wonderfully biscuity and full body. Buzz worthy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour was hazy orange, short of cloudy, thin to no head. Aroma of booze, caramel, resin, honey. Flavors followed with additional elements of citrus, tea bags and toffee. Mouthfeel a bit sticky and hot.

Old note. Bottle. Small sample. The aroma has citrus, resin, toffee. Bit hazy, orange coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter, has resin, citrus, orange peel, toffee. Moderate bitter, lasting finish. Alcohol warming mouthfeel. Nice.

Bottle from Bierkompass!
Pours orange with an off-white head. Aroma is strong hoppy fruity, berries, candy sugar and sweet caramel. Taste is boozy, lots of massive fruity sweet hops, paired with alcohol. Finish has fruits, alcohol and a perfumey note.

Bottle, april 2nd 2016. Clear light brown body with a thin white head. Aroma is boozy with honey and piney hops. Taste is toasted with strong bitterness, grapefruit and lots of caramel. Quite boozy finish, with a dry bitter hop aftertaste. While it has the hop characteristics of an ipa in my opinion at 14% this is more resembling of a barley wine. Who cares about styles though, an alright beer it is.

12 oz from Triangle Wine for 5 bucks. Pours a deep, hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is huge caramel, citrus and pine hops. Reminds me a lot of a barleywine, as others have mentioned. Taste is very piney and syrupy, some caramel malts with a strong alcohol burn on the end. Heavy, thick body for the style. Overall this one is more of a barleywine than a double IPA, but is still a fine beer nonetheless. Too bad it’s retired as of this review.

Dark orange colour with a beige head. Rich aromas and a taste which is sweet, but very complex with notes of candied fruit, tangerine, pineapple, resin and leather. The alcoholic strength is surprisingly well hidden but is definitely there! A lovely, well-made beer, close to a barley wine in style. A really great Imperial IPA which can be savoured with great pleasure.

Yop, shared by Brian. This bad boy is a Barleywine, no doubt. Pours very hazy dark hazel, small beige head, some lacing. Aroma is sticky caramel and pine and booze. Flavor is very sweet, lots of sugars and pine, medium bitter with a boozy bite. Medium body, quite hot and alcoholic. Not my favorite.

With Z , July 4th evening, pours a clear light rusty gold color with an ephemeral beige head. Nose has champagne notes with alcohol and hops. Taste is bitter sweet with strong alcohol and hard resin and pine notes, and well balanced... enough to taste some caramel, toffee and malt. Finish is bitter sweet, with the bitterness accentuated along with the alcohol, ending is dry and long. Quaff Score 7 / 10
