At Ghent Beer Festival 2017. Cloudy black with a frothy, beige head. The aroma contains licorice, roasted malt, hops, smoke, chili, pepper, some chocolate. It tastes medium to heavy bitter and light sweet, with a spicy, alcoholic, dry finish. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. A daring beer; quite complex; I should have this again and in a larger quantity than one receives at a beer festival.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2017 Blackish brown colour with cinnamon coloured head as big as three fingers. Aroma has roasted malts, milk coffee, espresso coffee, dark chocolate, light chili peppers, some nuts too. Taste is roasted, dark roasted coffee, some milk and nuts, then bitterness and dry ending with hint of chili in the end. Fullish oily body and medium carbonation. Quite nice despite all of the things going on.

Decent head. Lasts a while. Chocolate and hop aroma. Licorice. Dark coffee. Pretty awesome. Like drinking a bar of bittersweet chocolate.

Positiv overrasket.

Rica.

bottle, pours dark brown with high beige head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, herbs and spices. Very dry in taste with an overhelming stalky, warmwoody bitterness. The chilies are noticable in taste and slightly warming.
Decent brew. Im a bit disappointed after reading all those positive comments.

0,33l bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur, big thanks for this one. BB 29.03.2021. black color, medium big dark coffee colored head. smells earthy, spices, bitter chocolate, milk chocolate, nuts, hazelnuts, light caramel. very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, grassy, ashy, bitter herbal, light chilis, bit metallic / light oxidation, citric, bit acidic. finishes lightly dry and medium roasty / earthy bitter with notes of ash, bitter herbs and light oxidation. nice one overall, not totally convinced by the taste, especially not such a fan of the balance. overall still very good one, chilis are well integrated.

Echon (564) - Århus, DENMARK - JUN 21, 2017
Black. Roasted malty aroma with spices, coffee notes and cocoa. Malty and highly roasted flavour, with spices and chili. Dryish taste that finishes rather bitter, with burnt malt, ash and more chili. Full body. Overall, a decent spiced porter. Seeems unbalanced and not that drinkable. Too dry and too bitter. I think Texas Ranger is a lot better than this one.

750 mL bottle. Black body with an enormous mocha head. Smells creamy, roasty, spicy. Nice. Tastes spicy and peppery, sweet chocolate, creamy and roasty in equal portions. Nicely bitter in the back end. Medium body and creamy. Clearly, I do not get the individual ingredients, because what the hell does avocado leaf taste like? But it works.
