COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Quadrupel barrel aged on Bourbon barrels. Nice malty taste with notes of dark chocolate and dark fruits. The barrel aging gives a nice warmth from the alcohol as well as a nice aroma of vanilla.

Mahogany broen with good 2 finger goamy head that is long. Realy strong malty aroma has lots roasted caramel, bit coffee, dark bread, suryp, bourbon. Medium body, light feel, lots lots bourbon that lingers in long finish, bit tar, seasalt, low carbonation. Lots of personality and bourbon flavor.

38cl, as Monk’s Brew (aged in Bourbon Barrels), new exclusive Danish brew Anno 2012, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex brew, woody/malty and slightly alcoholic/spicy, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, rocky head, good brew, yet expensive!

Bottle, 375 ml. A clear-looking dark reddish amber beer topped by a dense, small, dark beige head. Booze soaked raisins, vanilla, oak, booze, generic fruityness and white wine. Raisins, vanilla and oak, booze, chocolate and a generic fruityness in the flavor. Dry, soft and maybe a bit low on carbonation. Lasting boozy finish with lots of raisins and oak. Quite lovely, but a bit too much, especially on the booze. 130306

375ml bottle (Viisi Pennia, Helsinki)
Slight wood-resin glue aroma, but pretty nice, a little thin, and slightly grapey too. Quite a light body, pleasant carbonation, no sign of 10%. Slight grapey fruitiness, a little butter, no big spikes, quite mellow. Very nice, very drinkable, fruit-juicy. Finish dry and woody, and with dry nut-paper old hops. Bourbon remains very much in the background here - to be honest, I’d have identified this as having been aged in marsala or white sherry sherry barrels rather than bourbon. (However, there have been a couple of Mikkellers where the barrels have tasted just plain wrong, I’m not 100% sure they label everything correctly.)

jackl (8071) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Bottle @ Bruce’s birthday tasting. This was a drunken impulse purchase. The pour’s deep brown with a small khaki head. The aroma’s rich bourbon, plenty of wood and vanilla, hints of raisin and caramel. Mild Christmas spices (ginger, nutmeg etc). The taste is more bourbon heavy dark fruits, chocolate cake. Rum raisin ice cream. Chocolate cookie. Rich, full body, a bit hot. Overall, a nice effort.

Pours a red-brown color with an off-white head. The aroma has a ton of bourbon in it as well as some roasted malt. The flavor is heavy on the whiskey with some chocolate and roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
