Bottle, 375ml, courtesy of meilby. It pours an unclear, dark ruby to brown body and a dense, finger-thick off-white to beige head. Oaked, red wine-ish, brett-aroma with dried fruits, dark berry notes, some alcohol and a touch of white sugar. Quite complex. It has a good warmth in the mouth, it’s full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated. A touch of metal in the far end. The brett and barrels sure win the flavor combat, there’s not much left of the original beer, except for the alcohol. Even though it’s quite dry, there’s a good dash of residual sweetness to be found. Sort of peppery too in the very end. Well, this one’s a clash of worlds, but it’s also a damn fine one, in a way combining the red sour beers of Flandern with the sweet quadrupels the monks brew. Lovely, but demanding. 110420 brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 9, 2012
Pours a dark amber color with an off-white head. Plenty of dark fruit notes on the nose, mostly cherry, raisin, and grape. A little bit of tartness balances out the sweetness somewhat. Dark candi sugar and toasted malts are also prominent. The palate is fairly sweet and malty with a good amount of dark fruit flavors to it. Just a hint of Brettanomyces funk, and maybe a light tartness. Just kind of okay. Dedollewaitor (16171) - Odense, DENMARK - JUN 8, 2011

Bottle at Borefts 2011. Roasted aroma, faint citric hint. Muddy dark brown colour. Very small tan head. The flavour is nicely citric, but also very mellow. Good fruit notes, citric berries. Well-balanced. Benzai (15624) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUL 16, 2011
Dark brown color, beige head. Don’t like the smell at all, too sour. Very nice body. Taste has a nice balanced sourness, but just not my taste.

[3/4/11] Bottle at ACBF 2011. Murky brown. Aroma of brett and fruits. Sourish flavor with fruits, some yeast and some sweeter malt. Finishes bitter. Medium-bodied. Scopey (14778) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2013
Bottle at home. It pours murky deep brown with a medium beige head. The nose is musty, earth, mouldy wood, ripe cheese, sulphur, HP sauce, vinous and tangy green apple. The taste is earth, brett, oak, tangy fruit, vinous, berry, spice, alcohol warmth, brown sugar, raisin and date with a very dry, earthy finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Smells pretty nasty...tastes better though. Interesting for sure, but not something I would return to.
