Deep chestnut with hint of red. Nose is intense grape, cherry and red berry, sour, some funk. Mouth is slightly thin, red wine dominates initially, some alcohol here, then the sourness cuts through and lightens the mouth feel. Lasts till midpoint sour cherry and berry with a touch of citrus, then develops vanilla woody tones with cherry stones. Ends slightly sweet, very smooth, enjoyable, light. Excellent beer, will age well. BoBoChamp (5755) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUN 17, 2011
38cl, at 10.5%Vol, as Monk’s Brew Barrel-Aged (Dark Belgian Wild Ale Aged in Red Wine Barrels), new exclusive Danish brew Anno 2011, thx to Jeppe!, complex brew, slightly sour and fruity, not too heavy, balanced, hazy, good head, good brew, yet very expensive! Gelungener Fruchtantrunk, der aber ein wenig zu trocken daherkommt. Die Herbe übertönt das schwache Malz, das Bier wirkt daher laff. Nun leider deutlich weniger sauer, was zu einem zu kurzen Finish führt. /8/9/8//8

Murky brown color, small brown head. Aroma has plenty of sourness, cherries, leather, alcohol, oak, red-wine, some feisty bitterness. Very much like a sour-ale. Taste is less punchy with a nice balance between sweetness and sourness. Oak and sugary flavours dominate, along with berries. thewolf (12535) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 25, 2011

Pours deep red brown with a fine, staying, creamy, beige head. Lovely laces. Aroma has clear red wine, molasses, roasted malts and dried fruit. Medium carbonation, fat and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is mild oaky tart, lots of plums, figs and grapes. Clear red wine notes. Good dryness in the finish. Delicious, but the brett version was better.
Bottle @ ACBF ’11. Aroma is fruity brett with a faint touch of caramel and roasted malt. Flavour is light sweet malt with a subtle smooth sour touch. phredrik (1024) - Copenhagen (formerly Aalborg), DENMARK - APR 23, 2011
Bottle. Pours deep mahogany brown with a red hue and a small brown head. Aroma is full of brett and red wine barrel, oak sweetness, cherries, some leather. Taste is rather sour, sweet cherries, brett, red wine, some berries, oak qualities, peppery notes, some sign of the alcohol. Lay this one down for 3 years and it will be a RR Consecration! UPDATED: AUG 13, 2014 Pours brown with allmost no head. Aroma is quite sour. very smellable red wine barrel, sour berries (cherry up front) and wild yeast.. Taste is much "darker". Note of Caramel, dark dried fruits along with sour berries and redwine aswell. bax (1311) - Hasselager, Aarhus, DENMARK - APR 16, 2011
(Bottle 23/3-2011) The taste of red wine is very dominant, not my personal favorite barrel. madmitch76 (24378) - , Essex, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2011

ACBF. Hazy red-brown beer, no real head. Light soft dry palate. Lovely mild sour notes with mild red wine in near perfect balance. Milky sweetness, brett sourness and some fruitiness. Light dry finish. Really nice one from Mikkeller!
