Pours red/copper with a thick pinkish-tan head and ample carbonation. Subtle aromas of cherry and apples with no hops present. Tastes bready and nutty followed by dry, tart cherry and finishes clean with only a slight bitterness. It’s crisp bready/malty character somewhat offsets the tart cherry. This is a nice cherry ale that is good on its own, but better because it invokes memories of a ris a la mande dessert. It’s not as complex as I’ve grown to expect from Mikkeller, but if the goal is to give tribute to the traditional Danish desert, then they have been successful.

Tap at C4. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with with a small head. Aromas of cherry, almonds. Taste is not as tart as I thought it would be, can taste the cherry and the almonds give it a slightly creamy texture. Interesting beer.

Lukasmh (780) - Aarhus, DENMARK - DEC 24, 2014
Bottle. Pours cloudy reddish amber with big thick foamy frothy light pink head. Aroma is sour cherry candy, sweet, malt, slight almond. Taste is cherries, slight tart, sweet, dry vanilla and fruity finish. Lot of cherry sauce. Has a thick creamy lacto mouth feel and soft carbonation. Well hidden alcohol. Certainly a christmas treat and really well executed interpretation.

UXO (1896) - CANADA - DEC 18, 2014
Pours hazy medium amber with two fat fingers of light pinkish tan head, great retention and heavy lacing. (4/5) Nose is sour cherries, pale malt, nutty and yeasty. (7/10) Taste is moderately strong sweet, medium tart and mild bitter. (6/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, tart finish. (3/5) Kind of muddled. There’s an almond-like nuttiness - almost Amaretto or Frangelico - that doesn’t work entirely well with the dominant sour cherries. Not Mikkeller’s best. (12/20)

jbruner (5121) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - DEC 7, 2014
Pours a murky reddish brown from the bottle with no real head or lace to speak of. Aroma is like an almond liquer with cherries, a hint of funkiness. Taste is like a cherry almond liquer, not the best. No carbonation.

The aroma of this beer reminds me of wheat beer but with a slightly detail of berry-like/cherry scent. The color reminds me of a dark wheat beer with some red and dark notes, almost caramel-like. The taste is sweet but without getting too sweet which is good. It feels very light on the tongue which means that a relative big amount can be consumed. There is almost no finish but I don’t mind that at all. An excellent beer!
