[ Raise The Roof Tasting ]. [ Vintage 2005 ]. Clear medium amber color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, spicy, christmas spices, cloves, cardamom. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, spicy, vintage. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft.
50 cL bottle, huge thanks to Ungstrup! Pours dark brown with a huge chocolate brown head. Dark spiced cardemomme aroma, dark roasted malty nose. Smooth roasted, dark malty and nicely spiced. Bitter, slight acidic and smooth roasted in a nice blend. Bitter and roasted finish with a lovely integrated note of cinnamon, ginger, cardemomme and cloves. Smooth far finish with a light citric note. I wonder if the citric notes are what is left from the orange peel. Spices are really wellintegrated in this wonderful 4 year old brew. An opaque brown beer with a reddish shine when held against the light, underneath a thick brown crown of head. The aroma is sweet and very spicy, I pick up cardamom, anise, and cloves, besides notes of oranges. The flavor is sweet and extremely spicy - a bit too much for me - the spice combination makes the mouthfeel extremely dry - makes my tongue like sand paper. The spices picked up are again cloves, cardamom, and anise, but also cinnamon. When the spices fades a bit a citrusy notes comes thru, mostly like lime - but very soon after the extremely dry end sets in with the spices still lingering around.
Drinking it by itself I find a bit too much, but I think it would suit sweet christmas cakes very well.
Dark brown coloured with a medium sized beige head.
Very spicy aroma dominated by cloves and cinnamon with notes of liquorice and citrus.
Spicy flavour with notes of liquorice. Spicy finish.
Interesting, but the flavour is too spicy for my liking.

Reddish brown colour with a tan head. Sweet malty and spicy aroma, cardamom is one of the spices. Malty flavor with lots of spices, cardamom and anise. Long spicy and a little hoppy aftertaste.

Bottled@The Chriso rock the roof down pre-GBBF tasting. Amber colour, very close to black, with small off-white head. Aroma is spices, liquorice, some fruits, wood and mild alcohol. Flavour is quite much the same, a very mellow and wellaged beer. omhper (25155) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAR 31, 2006
<i<Bottled. Very dark brown, creamy head. Aroma of ginger and cloves. Sweetish, lightly roasty and heavily spicy. Medium to full bodied with clean mouthfeel and notes of tar and coffee. Herbal bitter finish. Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 28, 2006
(Bottle 50 cl) Opaque, dark brown with a very handsome, beige cappuchinoish head. Very spicy nose with cardamom in particular blending in with floral notes from the aroma hops. The body is quite full with lots of roasted malts and bucketfulls of Christmas spices battling with a markedly bitter hoppiness for attention. A "Jägermeister beer" as Ivan suggests is quite a good comparison. 280106 madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - AUG 19, 2010
