Can shared by kraddel. A two-headed, in this sense two-hopped, interpretation of New England IPA made at San Diego (anything but New England), where Mikkeller apparently has a full-fledged brewing installation. Tightly membranous lacing, off-white, moussy head, quickly reduced to a thin rim and some flat islands in the middle, over a hazy ’lemon yellow’ beer with almost greenish tinge. Aroma of fresh grapefruit juice, lime wedges, white bread dough, granadilla, unripe mango flesh, lemon zest, yellow kiwi. Utterly fruity onset of mango, kiwi and passion fruit with a zesty citrus factor woven into it, sweetish and sourish, very refreshing with softish carbonation, fluffy and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Somewhat doughy malt core, serving as a soft underground for a very explicitly aromatic hoppiness, releasing a ton of retronasal passion fruit, mango and grapefruit impressions as well as providing a soft, mild bitterish touch at the back, but not stopping the whole from remaining very, very juicy. I had no idea Mikkeller was doing these hip East Coast NEIPAs at the American West Coast but this was surely a pleasant introduction to them and proves that these guys can do almost any style they want in an elegant, relevant and technically accomplished manner. Hard to tell whether this is at the same level as the ’originals’ from Tree House, Trillium and the like, but it sure comes eerily close...

Thanks to Kraddel! 473 ml. can split by 4 @ “Belgian Ticks Tasting Ghent”. 11 March 2017 canned. Very hazy orange, check, creamy off-white head. Nose is touch doughy, hazy orange & tropical NEIPA fruits. Taste is vaguely sweet with canned tropical fruit, cocktail fruit NEIPA? Peach, orange,… Milky NEIPA as hell body, nice stuff overall. All 3 NEIPA canned Mikkeller San Diego offerings that I have so far were tight, these guys are doing well.
