bottle at Greenhouse Tavern after the BB Blackout stout opening party at Great Lakes Brewery. So, the palate may be a bit open to interesting takes like this rum barrel Santa’s Helper. pours dark brown with sandy head. Fig, esters, vanilla barrel and roasted malts on nose. more sweetness then a port fruitiness comes through. some chocolate and astringency adds a weird sourness to this brew. overall very unique but a bit unbalanced. Not sure if I’d dig it this much as a first of the evening. pineypower (3346) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Bottle shared thanks to Dmac. Pours out almost black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is of some sweet fruit, nail polish remover, light rubbing alcohol. Taste is of dried cherries, rubbing alcohol, what I’d imagine nail polish remover tastes like. What kind of rum was used to age this? Cherry scented nail polish remover rum? chrisv10 (18588) - DENMARK - JAN 20, 2012
Bottle. Very dark brown with medium light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, spices, little acetone and rum. Flavour is roasted malts, rum, spices, little acetone, chocolate, medium sweet with notes of alcohol. Rasmus40 (22053) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - JAN 20, 2012
Clear very dark reddish brown with a brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, rum and acetone. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate sweet. Sweet finish. 200112 dmac (6501) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - JAN 12, 2012
Bottle from Cranbury BuyRite. Poured a nice looking pitch black center with super dark brown edges and a larger foamy beige head. Aroma is basically nail polish remover with a dash of sour chocolate. Flavor is abou the same as the aroma loads of acetone, followed by very sour cherry more acetone and then finally a hint of chocolate and grains. This is dreadful.

Massive Mikkeller pt.2 This one had a big old nose full of rum and spice. Dark brown color with a slight foamy head. Easy to drink? Slightly but I always enjoy a good sipper. Solid in my book. deyholla (12445) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Bottle thanks to Neugs. Pour a hazy earthy brown with a grayish brown head that is large but dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of dark fruits that are slightly tart backed by sweet grain and a hint of spice. Flavor has an interesting combination of tart dark fruit (port like), rum and spice that doesn’t really work with the malt backbone. Travlr (26268) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Bottle. Clear maroon, small beige head. Aroma of red wine, vanilla. Taste is sweet and sour port. Barrel is subtle. tiong (7672) - Espoo, FINLAND - DEC 28, 2011

Pours dark brown with a foamy head. Aroma has notes of alcohol, peach, malts and fruits. Taste is slightly strange with notes of malts, glue and exotic fruits. Alcohol and rum notes burn through too much. Finish is quite sticky and alcoholic. Quite unbalanced and not that good.
375 ml bottle.
Pours a brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts, alcohol and metals. Flavour of toasted malts, strong alcohol, wood, metals and sweet berries. Medium bodied, strong carbonation and a long, alcohol, malty finish. Clearly the worst Santas Little Helper. Really unbalanced.
