[Bottle] Dark opaque pour, thick, lively and enduring head formation. Coffee, dark chocolate, coriander and orange peel aroma. Well hopped bitter citrussy palate, enticing at first finishing strong. Plenty of dark chocolate and burnt alcohol, mocha like finish. Drak fruits, licorice and spice (cinammon, nutmeg, mint) add some balance. Remarkably easy drinking. (Bottle) Pours dark brown with a large sized light brown head. The aroma holds Christmas spices - ginger, clove, nutmeg, light cardamom and soft pepper alongside notes of fruity esters, mild green hops (pine/herbs/grass/green citrus), liquorice, earth, raisins, berries, spicy brown sugar/candi sugar and light phenols. The nose is warm, bit creamy an quite complex and reminds me a bit of swedish glögg. The flavour is light to medium sweet, medium bitter and light ascidic. Tones of, spices, liquorice, gingerbread, pine, brown sugar, dark fruits, glögg and light smoky phenols. The mouthfeel is creamy, soft and round with a light carbonation. Light numbing and medium bitter finish. Christmas spices and grapefruit lingers. Medium to full bodied. Rune (12944) - Tromsø, NORWAY - NOV 22, 2011
200ml on tap at Ørsted Ølbar. Coal black body, fragile lacing, naked surface. Exhibits a great aroma of dried fruits, Christmas spices and anise-like malts. Comprehensive and well balanced taste character of pine needles, dark fruits added by coffee and nuts. Spiced bitter ending. Full bodied but not too heavy to drink. My friend Esben said that this was the best Yuletide brew he ever had tasted, and it’s truly flavoursome one (Copenhagen, 05.11.2011). Tero (46) - FINLAND - NOV 26, 2011
Chocolate, coffee, bread, alcohol, black, heavy cloying sweetness, soft carbonation, long finish. Very nice and strong christmas beer, makes me happy but doesn’t blow my mind.
