UPDATED: OCT 18, 2014 Bottle shared by Jean-François, muy thanks! Pours a dark brown (uh-oh) with a thin offwhite hear that leaves good lacing. Nose is more stout-ish than anything else (be it a saison or a belgian strong ale) and loaded with spirits and alcohol aromas. Grand Marnier is felt but not upfront, you also get some nuts in the back. Taste is of Grand Marnier, orange oil, caramel, roast and surprisingly not too sweet/swill-y. Body is medium-full, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel creamy. Overall this was pretty much a BA belgian stout, not bad but not something I’d come back to. czar (9795) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 17, 2014
bottle shared by albatross, thanks jeff! pours unclear dark brown-burgundy with a small light beige cap showing minimal retention and lacing. obvious grand marnier and its fragrant sweet oranges and almost astringent woodsy notes, tobacco; sweetish fruity, spicy and nutty caramel, hint of maple syrup, grass, minerals. average carbonation, light to medium body - surprisingly lean considering the abv, slightly boozy, oaky, semi-sweet, tannic and grassy-spicy finish. miscellaneous and motley flavors. very interesting grand marnier features though. but all in all the barrel blending doesn’t seem really convincing. Another special edition of Santa’s Little Helper, very similar to the cognac barrel aged version, but much less sharp tannins; subtle orange liqueur and orange peel from the Grand Marnier pierces through and adds to the complex but elegant and gentle character of the basic beer. A masterpiece, the perfect sipper on a cold winter night. Yorker (2151) - Holstebro, DENMARK - SEP 1, 2014

Pours dark brown with a rich foam. Aroma of brown sugar, figs, and tree bark. Low carbonation with a medium thick mouthfeel. Complex flavors of toast, oak, sugar, and dates. Grand Marnier has an orange citrus note, but not really detecting here. Maybe some peel in the finish. Drying from the alcohol. Enjoyable. Yves (3210) - Turnhout, BELGIUM - MAY 18, 2014
