On tap. Big malt character guides the spice payload to my palate. Chocolate caught me off guard but blends nicely with the other flavors. This stuff ages well, so sit on a bottle for ~2 years if you've got extras. Dogbrick (13388) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JAN 3, 2013
On draught at World Of Beer. This brew pours a dark reddish-brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, raisins, chocolate and yeast. The finish is fruity with a yeast aftertaste. Good beer overall. Davros (3246) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 3, 2013
Pours ruby-tinted black with a dark tan head.
Nose shows doughy bready malt, sultanas, golden syrup, fruitcake, and faint chocolate.
Flavours comprised of booze, bready malt, soft roasted malt, treacle. The alcohol is a bit harsh.
Thick creamy body. Could use more carbonation. Belgians4Me (8) - Siloam Springs, Arkansas, USA - JAN 2, 2013 does not count
Aroma: rum, rubbing alcohol, plumb, actually a little funky, but enticing; Pours: deep brown with great tan/red head; Taste was fantastic- raisins, plumbs and other dark fruits, very rich and sweet, warm going down; great mouth coating, but dry finish. Great beer. patricks110 (2521) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 1, 2013
Pours out a dark, viscous engine oil with a creamy short lived tan head. Purely opaque body with a few bubbles popping on the surface. The nose is supremely rich and heavy with big chcocolate malts, a woody earthen malt and a hint of fresh vanilla. A hint of booze and just an incredibly rich aroma. Sugary and candied malts with a rich chocolate malt, earthy roasted malts with hazelnuts and vanilla. Rather smooth with a hint of alochol heat on the finish. A really good beer, but it could use a bit of ageing.

750mL bottle, pours a near-black with a medium tan head. Aroma of Xmas spices, burnt caramel, some burnt cocoa and some charred malt. Flavour follows the burnt aromatics, with burnt molasses, some sherry-like oxidation, burnt caramel and a bit of a smoky quality. Quite heavy, burnt and somewhat spicy. The burnt qualities work well actually. Great stuff. ArkansasCowboy (1) - Arkansas, USA - DEC 30, 2012 does not count

Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. My 1600th rating, yo ho ho. Deep dark brown pour with a fading yet persistent muddy tan head. Sweet candy nose of dark fruit , xmas cake, and booze. Creamy, slick mouthfeel. Rich boozy and warming .Great festive sipper for sitting next to the christmas tree with the rain lashing against the window. Essence of the season.
