Pours a deep reddish brown with a large foamy amber head. Good carbonation. At first sip this wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but in a good way. Big aroma, lots of chocolate malts seeing as it’s Christmas, with cherries, berries, nuts, raisins and a bit of alcohol, for 10.9 % this goes down really smooth. Palate is thick & creamy. Deep brown with thin beige head. Aroma is spicy, peppery, and type with estery alcohol. Surprisingly dry finish follows a rich nutty, fruity flavour. Alcohol is prevalent, with slight rocket fuel flavour present, but rather good all round. JBVatkeens (48) - Florida, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Had this froma bottle. Thick reddish head, dark color, smells somewhat malty, tastes chocolatey and a little boozy. thornecb (6151) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Licorice and pit fruit aromas. Hot with dark chocolate covered pit fruit and soy upfront turning to juniper in the lasting bitter earth finish.

Bottled. Pours black with a huge brown head. Smells smoked meat, roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, dark chocolate. Tastes dark chocolate, roasted malt, abit bitter, raisings and plums, abit smoky with a similar finish. zacgillbanks (5651) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - DEC 24, 2012
Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Inky black with a thin brown head. It has very warming liquorice and chocolate flavours followed by spice (ginger?) and slight sour red fruit on the finish. A great spicy Christmas beer! benpickens (544) - Camarillo, California, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Pours inky black with brown medium compact head that holds well; fruit cake , bourbon and fig aromas; chalky dry finish with alcoholic burn. Great beer but its an imperial stout without a doubt and I was hoping for a Belgian beer - a quad.

Bottle. Pours black with average long lasting tan creamy head with nice lacing. Aroma is dark toasted malts, candy, ripe pear, banana, dark chocolate, molasses, spices. Taste is medium sweet and bitter. Body is full, texture is creamy, carbonation is average. So dark and heavy that it almost resembles a stout.
