Christian (13809) - Odense, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 5, 2013 Bottle at Cafe Biografen. Dark brown with a lasting light brown head. Malty aroma with caramel and licorice notes, spice and fruit, a little alcohol and a touch of green apples. Sweetish malty flavour with fruit, molasses, caramel, spice and alcohol. 3.6.

On tap several times at Christian Firtal and Carlsens Kvarter: No sign of the green apple notes. Very subdued alcohol. More chocolate character. Much better. Another bottle in February 2013 was still problematic

On draught at World Of Beer. This brew pours a dark reddish-brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, raisins, chocolate and yeast. The finish is fruity with a yeast aftertaste. Good beer overall.

From tap at The Bishop Arms in Copenhagen. Small glass served at the right drinking temperature. Coal black body with a dark red shade. Low head, dotted spots to the glassware. Dark malty aromas joined by a nice touch of Christmas spices. Rich Yuletide taste of anise, coffee, and chocolate on a moderate roasted backbone. Long bittersweet tail tingled with alcohol warmth. Great stuff that fits the holiday season. Enjoyed in a relaxing atmosphere. I’ve always liked visiting this place and even placed one of my books in their library. Thanks (Copenhagen 09.12.2013).

from Erzbierschof - black beer with a rather poor beige foam left; aroma of black chocolate with some coriander on top of it; pretty sweet; full-bodied; a light earthy tartness, residual sweetness with hints of candi sugar and chocolate; some lingering sharpness - not really convincing

Bottle, bought @ Kihoskh, Cph. Pours deep black with a lovely, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma has mild roasted malts, chestnut, chocolate, softly vinious, cardemum, coriander. Medium carbonation, lovely creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has a bit of a vinious bite, but also wonderful cocoa and Nutella. Piney, light roasted bitterness. A touch of yeast. Nice.

"A little spicier than I remember older vintages being. Smells at first of Christmas tree in a bottle. Super smooth though the alcohol shows as it warms. Pine, chocolate, dark fruit, molasses...really nice, as expected."

Bottled. Dark reddish Brown coloured. Dense light Brown head. Aroma. Caramel, sweetness, Brown sugar, Spice, plums, prunes, light alcohol. Flavour. Sweetness, coriander, light vanilla, roast, caramel, ripe fruits. Definite portwine character. Medium to full bodied. Ends sweet anf fruity with a light Spicy touch. Delicious, but The reel question is. Is it really necessary with all these Indian Spices in a Danish beer?. Why not use the traditional danish Spices like liqourice, orangepeel, cloves and cinnamon.
