In short: A typical roasted chocolaty stout. Lack on originality but flawless execution. Excellentchibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 9, 2011
How: Tap at Hill Farmstead brewery
The look: Black body
In long: Nose is roasted, chocolaty and notes of brownies. Taste is big creamy dark grainy malts, some black chocolate, brownies, roast, tobacco leafs. Not much in the way of fruitiness. Kind of sweet on the attack but the roast brings a moderately dry finish. All in all there was nothing really noteworthy about this beer, almost generic roasted chocolaty stout, yet the execution was so flawless that I can’t help it but to give it an excellent score. This beer was brewed by mikkeller to celebrate Shan’s baby (Hill Farmstead) first anniversary. A brewery anniversary is like a prostat exam, the first one something that you remember for a long time. However one tends to be celebrated more than the other.
Thanks to Sean for this 750 growler... dark brown with a light tan head, good quick with a light thin head... really light nose, coffee with a light cream, nose roasted notes... the taste is more roast than anything, a bit generic, ok, not great Dazz3 (1798) - Hallsberg, SWEDEN - JUL 9, 2011

Black with a light brown head. Aroma of hers, chili peppers and vegetables, with notes of minerals and yeast. Quite sweet and strange flavours dominated by licorice and herbs

On tap at the Hill Farmstead Anniversary Celebration. Served in a Hill Farmstead long-stem tulip.
Pours a very, very dark brown color bordering on black with a good mocha head and a nice collar throughout. The nose carries loads of chocolate plus a bit of roast. There’s some coffee in there as well. The flavor is fairly sweet and is overloaded with chocolate, mostly of the darker variety. Slight roast presence in the background throughout, and also a bit of sweetness. Some espresso and accompanying crema as well, which makes for a delightful full-bodied mouthfeel. Average carbonation. Really a tasty brew all around.
