Bottle. Beautiful deep orange amber with a golden-kissed head that retains beautifully. I love how everyone smells something different with sorachi Ace hops! If you peruse the reviews there is a wide range of perceived aromas, from citrus to spice to vanilla to coconut to grass to flowers to perfume to compost!! Wow, this is a unique hop to say the least. I am sitting with this beer under my nose right now, waiting for my pork hocks to finish the first phase of the broil before I add the brown ale base into the pan. My aromatic impressions: sweet capsicum, buckwheat, light radish (daikon), peppercorn, vague sweet orchard fruit. Not the most enticingly aromatic hop-filled nose, but very intriguing. Smooth silky mouthfeel, buttery malts, vegetal hop character drawing on all the elements in the nose to good effect. Medium bitterness that has an herbal and spice aftertaste. I love this because it lies outside the expectations of many commonly used hops. I can see why this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea though. JanLaursen (3227) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 14, 2012
Bottle, 33 cl. Clody deep orange with a creamy, mostly stable off-white head. Nice lacings. Orange-ginger marmelade, citrus, rancid butter in the nose, as usual for Sorachi Ace a little vulgar. Flavor is deep and bitter, like massive amounts of orange zest. Gription79 (2890) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - APR 13, 2012
Shared a 330ml bottle with Doug at the Bayou. Lemon zest is the most notable character, some sweet bready malts. The bitterness is soft and balancing. A nice beer. douglas88 (9176) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 13, 2012

Bottle at home bought in Hopduvel Ghent. Orange brown colour with big frothy golden head. Should say that I love Sorachi Ace. Aroma is fantastic, all that sour cream and chive, funky, bit citrus fruity and herbal and maybe even a bit of pepper. Taste is creamy and sour, bit of orange, some other fruit there too, bit of bubblegum. Really nice and smooth and quite full in the mouth. Lovely! Bottle, Easter Sunday at Mum and Dad’s. Copper with a huge Belgian plume of head. Mouldering satsuma furred with mould aroma- pretty good, becoming outrageous. Soapy, bitter orange flavour with gingerbread, mouldy satsuma and star anise notes. Husk, body and linger. Love the Mikkeller Single Hop series and this is another corker. charlotte (5382) - rødovre, DENMARK - APR 7, 2012

Bottled 330ml (Kitty’s)
Deep amber color, good creamy beige head, lace. Very typical Sorachi Ace nose, sticky "nettles" aroma, hay and fruits. Medium-bodied. Fruity, grassy hoppy flavor, Sorachi Ace is maybe less dominate form in the flavor where malts cut a bit. Lingering citrus, grapefruit, "nettles" bitterness in the aftertaste. Perhaps too straightforward (as many times with some difficult single hops).
