Rune (12264) - Troms, NORWAY - JUN 17, 2010
250ml bottle bought at lbutikken Copenhagen in early May. Fits nicely into my little sample glass from lfestivalen 2010. First pour leaves a near-clear, red-brown body to a naked surface. Cloudy second pour. Aroma of tart berries. Acidic taste of sour and sweet berries added by notes of yeast. Tart, drying finish with dusty yeast. Alright as a palate cleaning aperitif, without being a favourite of mine (Troms, 12.06.2010).

Bottle @ RBESG, Rome. Pours unclear pink with a small off white head. Lovely tart nose. A lot of vinousness, caramel, earth, barrel. Very tasty and very dry. Tart cherrie flavor. A bit of sharp acetone and some warmth. Nice and refreshing.

Taste 2010-06-07. Courtesy of Bo. Pours unclear, pink going on red with no head, but though still with signs of carbonation. Funky aroma of brets and cherries. Very acidic on the palate. Distinct notes of cherries in the flavour. Low carbonation. Very tart. One problem: As it progresses, an unpleasant scent emerges: sort of a sharp terpentine based glue thingy. Its tolerable, but its not good. Overall a good beer though.

Have had this beer several times allready and I find it very nice and one of Mikkellers best yet in 2010. Luckely I have manage to grap a few that now are stored in my cellar. Maybe im just slowly turning in to a sour junky.. Sealed with red waw in tiny 25 cl bottles and bought at lbutikken, Copenhagen. Im slowly getting a huge fan of these smaller bottles that are easier to pop on a tuessday night. The pour is hazy deep red with a tiny white head. The nose is huge and kind of acidic with well done cherrys that are blasting their aroma away. Some notes of wood and lactic flavours with some bret and a sweetness like in marzipan but a spicy sourness like aflavour vinegar topped with a hint of horsraddish. The taste is all so sour - makes your mouth go sshhhh and the ears itch (is it only me?) The cherrys are not that up front like in the aroma but a beeing mixed up with this heavy sourness. the trademark from Cantillon are stil there. The mouthfeel is medium with a long lasting sourness that in the finish are getting more oily and with the notes of bret left behind. Damn - I kind of find it a bit similar to Mikkels previous Super sour kriek.. the same agressive sourness and the same blasting cherrys makes it sooo good. Nice

Bottle 25cl. Pours a rusty red/copper colour, gradually getting hazier, as you work your way through the bottle. Only a minimum of fragile, white head. Aroma of heavy cherry, rum, brett yeast, alcohol, oak, grapes, wine and only a tiny hint of hops. Taste is tart and sour with soft cherries, vanilla, grapes, wine and oak along with some yeasty characteristics which accentuates the sourness further. Long tart finish with a small alcohol burn, medium-full bodied, pretty lively carbonation, dry texture. A tasty and complex beer, albeit a little pricy.

Bottle at home. Pours a red brown with no head. Smells of cherries and glue. Quite sour with aromas of glue and cherries. Tiny hints of almond. Some tartness. Medium bodied. No carbonation. Long tart finish with more sour cherries and glue. Good, but a bit too much glue.

Bottle. Caramel brown/reddish pour with but a small white rim. Aroma has sweet cherries, marzipan, high sourness, brett funkiness, oak, little vanilla, notes of red wine- and sherry-likeness. Taste is tart, sour cherries, brett funkiness, marzipan sweetness, big oak qualities, small alcohol burn in the finish and after. Full bodied, low carbonation, almost flat, long duration.
