Consumed for “Drink It Now” day, hosted by GenDV138. Poured an opaque, dark cherry red color. Aroma is heavy on the cherry, red wine notes. Light woody vanilla. Touch of berries here. Light acidic notes, but mostly cherry. Not very sweet, but packs a heavy cherry character.

Really dark red color with pink head, looks gorgeous. Aroma is straight up cherry milk shake with vanilla notes, almonds and cherry pits. Taste starts slightly tart with intense cherries, cherry yogurt and almond flavor. Finish is slightly dry, bitter and dusty but the fruit flavor still dominates. Medium body, quite smooth on the palate even though it’s well carbonated. Overall it’s a really awesome fruit beer, really complex but well balanced.

neongolden (1647) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 16, 2017
(375ml bottle from VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Jan 16 2017) Pours a very dark red wine colour with a short lived dark pink head. Aroma of dark cherry jam, a rose or light red sort of wine note, oaky, marzipan, light funk, tart but not highly acidic, with a sweetness to the fruit. Flavour is more acidic than the nose, with cherry flesh and jam balanced by a sharp wine character and subtle vinegar, some outright grape notes, rather oaky, marzipan, a little vanilla, light leather and funk, finishing with a pretty high white wine acidity over top of lingering cherry flesh and a little tannic oak. Medium bodied with extremely low carbonation. This is all about the barrel marrying the fruit, with expressive bright acidity wine-heavy qualities that I do not remember from other versions. Nice, if not terribly deep.

Bottled. Deep ruby colour with a pinkish head. Aroma is some slight sourness, cherries, wood and mild acidic notes. Flavour is sour and quite tart cherries with quite white wine like notes as well as some slight wood and mild earthy notes. The alcohol gives a nice "sweetish" edge to it. Not the most brutal lambic effects, but the sourness/tartness is there as are the other elements.

Aroma: Big cherry, a lot of character form the barrel, dry white grapes. straight up chardonnay. Taste: Its crazy, the chardonnay wine is sitting right beside the cherries, Has a very familiar wine acidity to it & a very dry finish. Overall: I can only presume this was monitored very closely in the barrels to perfectly compliment the base beer (which it does) and it isnt a fluke beer. Fantastic offering from Mikkeller.
