Bottle from SlackerMads, many thanks! Great tart cherry nose with a light funkiness. Taste is loaded with cherries, wood, bit of funk, earthy. Not overly complex, but oh so flavourful. Bottle from Apex. Colour...dark, grapey, with a thin white head. Nose...cheese, sweaty feet, gym socks and cherry purée. Wow! ! On tap, Whole Foods Plymouth mtg. Pours deep blood/beet red, like a fizzy opaque merlot in a pint glass. Lambic style on the nose immediately, the sour it not over powering, but the cherry is light. Texture is slightly chalky, but may have been the glass.

Draft. Dark red (cherry) color with a pink/purple head. Aroma of old wet towel with some hints of authentic cherry sweetness and a slight almond hint. Taste is filled with semi sweet authentic cherries with a slight sourness. Sweet to sour is well balanced. Finish with dry cherries with a hint of almonds and marzipan. Hides the ABV completely. Nose has sour cherry. Some nice aromatic and perfumed notes, albeit very subtle of sandalwood and incense. There is a broad funky thickly barnyard aroma in the foreground that is almost distracting. Salty, sweaty feet come to mind. There is also the lactic funk of cheese, fermented butter and yogurt.
Mouthfeel is watery and juice-like. For the most part this is almost like drinking freshly mashed grape juice, rough and unfiltered. There is the sour of sour cherries with a surprisingly mild tartness, certainly without the acerbic finish of a cranberry. The grain bill is represented by a cloudy swirl of undigested barley, and maybe even the powdery heft of wheat. All this sounds ponderous, rough and poorly coordinated and believe me, this is just my poor mastery of the English language finally showing through. Words are not equal to the task of describing the harmony in this wonderful brew, the harmony of fruit, grain, alcohol, and the funky by-products of microbial life.
Finish is briefly bitter at the back of the tongue with the rest of the palate still luxuriating in a beautiful fruity sour.
Wonderful. Just wonderful. Overall the experience is like swilling a grape-prune juice mix that you let sit out a while too long and then hurriedly put back into the fridge and then cautiously took out to sniff and then quaff and then fall giggling to the kitchen floor.
