Klar gylden brun med lavt beige skum. Lukter frukteddik, trket frukt, trevirke og noe vanilje. Sur s det holder, noe fruktighet kommer igjennom. Kvae, noe karamell. Lang. Kjenner sdmen bedre p slutten, med fortsatt sur gjennom hele avslutningen.

Draft at Whole Foods PM. Poured turbid dark brown with tan head. Nose was tart, earthy fig, raisin, mild yeast, spice. The fig worked for me, providing some balance to the acidic tartness. Smooth finish.

Bottle (375 ml) at home. Split 2-ways. Dark orangey-caremel color leaving a small ring of off-white lacing. Aroma is in sour brown territory with balsamic notes, oak, brown sugar, mild earthiness and red wine. Taste is rather balsamic as well with oak, red wine, caramel/brown sugar, earthy notes and some funk. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oaky mouthfeel. A bit puckering in the finish with some lingering red fruits and brown sugar. This is quite different from most other beers from the "Spontan" series and its way close to a sour brown than to fruited lambic. A bit heavy and balsamic for my liking, which hinders drinkability. Im not sure I would have recognized figs either if it wasnt from the name of the beer.

Draft at Coopers Seafood House. Pours brown with a thin white head. Leaves some lacing in the grass. Huge whiff of figs, tartness, and wood on the nose. Fairly tart on the tongue along with a woody, fruity thing. Finished clean. Pretty solid.

Pours a dark copper with a medium offwhite and almost beige head that leaves pretty good lacing. Nose is of brown sugar, red wine vinegar, oak and wine. Taste is fairly dry (I feared it would be a sweet mess, thankful it is not!) and moderately acidic. Noticeable lambic-esque funk. I read other people speaking of acetic acid and I can totally understand why but to me it feels more like the usual lambic microflora than it feels like a sour red for instance. Body is light to medium, carbonation moderate. Tannic/oaky. Acidity level is a touch over what Id like but nothing bad. Certainly a valid fruited sour by Mikkeller! The lambic base does not get lost at all and thank god its not sweet at all!

Aroma is the stock spontan sour fruit/ale yeast with a bit of paint. The flavor is dark fruit/figs, malts and a mix of mild vinegar and sour in the finish.
