Rose colored body with a tall pink cap floating ontop. Fresh red cherry, lemon, very mild funk, aroma is milder then I expected. Taste is funky with a lemon sour, sweet cherry shows up in the after taste. Drinkable but forgetable.

Son of a rusted cap! there that’s better finally got it off now on to what this thing looks like. Cloudy ruby red pour with frothy pinkish white head. Aroma is sour funk, lemon/tart zest, and some barnyard herbal. Flavour is sour tang on the tip of my tongue, towards the middle i get some lemon zest, finishes dry with some tart that lingers like a glass of red wine...almost no sweetness. I like it.

Backlog review, tasted on 07/21/2011. Pours clear, ruby red with a healthy, soft pink head that fades, leaving a band of lacing around the glass. Smell is funk, followed by dark sour cherries, but lacking in complexity for me beyond that. Taste is sharp, tart cherry flavor that bursts and finishes quickly, dry lingering funkiness. Light body, carbonation lends a nice pop to the flavor. Decent try for the style, but lacking in depth compared to some of its Belgian brethren.

Bottle. Red/purple color. Thin off-white sheet for head. Solvent-laced funk and cherry nose. Flavors carry suit. Solvent dryness gives subtle but satisfying character to the cherry flavors. Though not overly complex, its also not just a one-note pony..there’s an earthy, rustic character woven throughout the flavors that carries the beer to a level of enjoyment where I could see and have experienced non-belgian lambics missing the mark...this isn’t a Cantillon or De Cam experience, obviously, but its certainly better than what I’d expect a mikkeller experience to go like in this territory. Finish runs a bit overly bitter for my tastes, but up until then, I was pleasantly satisfied for what it was.

375ml bottle pours a reddish color with a finger and a half of light pink head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is funky with some yeast and cherry. Taste is a bold cherry and lemon tartness with a light malty sweetness and a definite sensation of alcohol. Medium bodied with abundant carbonation leaves a strong tickle on the tongue. Not one of the best lambics that I have tried, but still recommended for an interesting tasting experience.

Maybe I shouldn’t have had this right after I had the Amazing Spontanale but I couldn’t resist. The cherries definitely take away from the base beer. So they add cherry juice to a beer and what you get is it is muted a bit but all those great flavors are there.

Bottle. Red with light pink head. Pretty good cherry / funk balance- has some of the fresh fruityness of the cherries left without being artificial or too sweet on the nose. Leathery oak, a bit of hay. Body is sharp, a bit acidic. Not as intense as the nose promised, but ok musty cherry flavours. A bit bland actually, or too much wheatyness. I really liked the nose, but the body wasn’t all there.

illidurit (2327) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 29, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 30, 2013 Pours a pretty raspberry jam color with a light pink head. Strong black cherry aroma with a lactic sourness, light phenols/coughdrops. Flavor is similar, maybe more lemony than the scent, again the coughdrop/jolly rancher thing is coming through. Bitter tannic cherry pit finish, could use a little polish.
