A Mes rate: bottle in Kobenhaven thanks to those very good folks at Mikkeller.lassem (660) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 7, 2012
I was very very lucky to get a hefty sample of this. Lucky because of its rarity, even luckier because it was absolutely mind blowing. Looking back over my notes I can remember it clear as day. We had already had many incredible beers that day but this stood out from the crowd. Rich dark amber with an impressive off white head that lasts really well. Damn, this is proper stuff. A convincing clone for certain but it has more. It also has the feel of something that has been aged a little. A faint sourness creeps in at the sides and creates a tunnel of love for all the fanfunkingtastic sweet fruity malt to fall into. Lots of christmas spice and a hit of incredible pineapple and other fruit. Alcohol is noticable but utterly lovable. The yeasty notes are sublime and creates a glorious creamy mouthfeel. Loads of body, complexity is through the roof and in general, just an all round stunner of a beer. Amazing, amazing, amazing.
A part of the mastodont beer dinner hosted by Mielcke & Hurtigkarl featuring Mikkeller and Struise. This one went in as the seventh Mikkeller beer and was served to a pumpkin ice cream dessert next to the Struise Tsjeeses reserva. The pour was dark redish with a tiny tanned head, The aroma is clearly influenced by De Dolle, and you can find the unique belgian notes that they always have. It has vanilla and clean laqurice that almost reminds me of the kind of cough medicine I got as a kid. The taste is suprmely round with a soft, smooth and plesant palate with a huge long finish with traces of dried fruits like raisins. Traces of almonds, wooden notes and a mild feeling of alcohol is in the picture too.
A super complex beer that is very balanced. The finish has a mild warmth from the alcohol. Theis (15150) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 27, 2009

Bottle at Kiin Kiin beer vs wine
Thanks to Mikkel for pulling out this rarity for the event. Its dark amber with a minimal off white head. Lots of caramel malt in the aroma, along with grain, wood, berries and a very distinct spearmint aroma. The more i sniffed the more it somehow reminded me about after eight. Thick rich sweet flavor with a minor tartness. Incredible well rounded and well "hidden" alchohol which in the end brought alot to the dish. bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - APR 12, 2012
(500ml bottle) Pours a murky apple cider like body with a spare off-white head. Aroma of raisins, brown sugar, yeast, vinous, wet paper bags, and leather. Flavor of raisins, brown sugar, Belgian yeast, plum, caramel, some earthy oxidation, and toffee with a dry finish.

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar, May 2012. (the bottle cost 200 DKK)
Dark brown with a small head. The aroma was rather heavy and complex with a lot of malt, fruit, some plums and dust. The taste was vinous and sweet with toffee, dried fruit, yeast, malt and notes of alcohol. A very nice beer that I never though that I would try.
