Bottle sample as "Mikkeller Barrel Aged Chipotle Porter"at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Ariel. Pours black, opaque, tan foam. Coffee, peanut butter and roast aroma, brilliant chili-chocolate taste, smooth, long aftertaste and full body. I love it. ads135 (4607) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - NOV 19, 2011
How many disparate flavors can you jam into one beer? Smoke, spice, chocolately sweetness, hoppy bitterness; this beer has them all and somehow manages to establish its own voice. A decent one at that. BBF, 2011. Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - OCT 2, 2011
Bottle @ BBF2011. Black pour, thin tan head. Aroma is roasty, bourbon, leather and vanilla. Flavor is bitter roasted bourbon and peat with a very nice spicy afterbite. Very nice. jesperhammer (4736) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 9, 2011
09-NOV-2011, bottle @home, from "Fish & Beer".
High lasting fluffy head on black body.
Nose is alcohol, fruits (chili?), roasted or even burned malts and then whisky. Fantastic:) Taste is even more of the same. The malts are stronger here with chocolate and coffee. Chili kicks in, as always with a fair amount and enough to be felt and tasted.
Ends hoppy bitter with a long whisky/chili afterburner. Fantastic effort. canuck_j (80) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 3, 2012
Aroma big fruit cake nose with a wide variety of smells including molasses and lemons and dates
APPEARANCE Midnight dark with a big chocolate head and great lacing
TASTE: Big roast and chocolate malts with dates and plums and molasses in the finish absolutely delicious, marvelous Scotch finish and a almost cloying sweetness to be balanced off by hops- would cure malaria I’m sure.
PALATE as big and thick as a beer can be with delectable hops right at the end pinching things up a bit
OVERALL absolutely superb beer with now known reason not to have another

Bottle. Pour is pretty much black with a thin brown head. Aroma is fruity, coffee roasted malt, light vanilla, light smoke, and a touch of milk chocolate. Really nice aroma. Flavor is smooth chocolate malt, light fruitiness, faint coffee notes, and a long milk chocolate finish with a hint of smoke and a very light chili burn at the end. 12.7 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. The head stays around a little while, and there’s a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like smoky whisky, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and a bit of chilies. It tastes like bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt, smoky/peaty whisky, oak, and some light chilies. The chili flavor does get stronger as the beer warms up, but it’s not close to being overpowering at all. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s a bit creamy and coating, and has moderate, soft carbonation. It certainly goes down easy enough. I think it’s a pretty good brew. It’s pricey at $11.99 a bottle, but I’d probably buy it again at that price. andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 6, 2013
