Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Pours an impressive inch-thick dark beige head with good retention that leaves a nice lacing pattern - i.e. the looks of an imperial stout of twice the ABV. Pitch black colour. Aroma of sugary roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, licorice and a slightly vegetal element akin to raw coffee beans. Medium body, soft carbonation, rich mouthfeel, again reminiscent of stronger stouts. Dry malty, woody taste with a prominent but pleasant chili heat - ’medium hot’, I guess. This is balanced by some sweetness and a little acidity that is amplified by the chili. Mildly bitter coffee-vegetal aftertaste with a lingering chili burn.

A - Pitch black body with a big fluffy mocha head slowly sink to a creamy film. S - Chipotle comes out immediately along side semi sweet chocolate, coffee grinds, hints of anise, light hickory smoke, and chocolate liqueur. T - A mix of dark and milk chocolate, with a steady presence of chipotle creating mild heat on the tongue and back of the throat. The pepper becomes more smokey towards the finish. M - Silky and smooth feel, creamy carbonation, dry and warming finish. This exceeded my expectations. Perfectly balanced flavors. Chipotle was not over or under used and melded perfectly with the big chocolate malts. I didn’t want the bottle to end. Picked it up out of state, wish I would have bought more than one. On keg at Brewdog, pours as a thick textured black imperial stout, with chocolate malts, toasted coffee, chilli, smoked vegetable, all coming together well in a smooth finish. Excellent beer, unusual because of the thick velvety finish for a 6.6%.

Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - MAY 19, 2013
On tap at Ale & Hop in Barcelona. Pours a black body with an inch thick, dense and creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma has lots of rich dark chocolates, roasts, and a light milky sweetness. Touches of molasses as well as some pepper and earth. Flavor is big and rich dark chocolates up front with a nice roastiness. Some milky chocolates add a light sweetness in the middle before a solid earthy, spicy pepper flavor comes in. Touches of vanilla before this gets fairly hot and finishes dry, roasty, somewhat bitter, and very peppery before leaving a lengthy, hotter aftertaste. Medium-full body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a really nice beer. A bit sweet and rich, but plenty of roasts and a great peppery heat that never gets too out of balance. Good one.

Pours balck with a brown head. Hops and dark malts in aroma. Notes of dark chocolate. Taste is hoppy at first, then malty (coffee and chocolate). The aftertaste is quite spectacular with notes of smoke, bitter dark chocolate and some chili. Got this courtesy of a friend who did not care for it at all.

Fspirit (54) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 16, 2013
NIce brown medium head. Aroma of coffee, spices, liquorice and burned grass. Taste of chocolate, espresso, wood, chili, pepper and smoke. This beer feels like a full bodied high ABV Imperial Stout at only 6,6%. Amazing work Mikkeller.

(draught) pours black in colour with a creamy light brown head. aroma of tobacco and smoked ham, green ball peppers, toasted malts, vanilla, brown sugar and dark chocolate, a bit too green. flavour is heavy toasted grain, ash and alcohol, with a light sweetness and a slightly too hot roasted-bitter finish. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

0,33L bottle. Wow!!! Very cool black motor oil color with cappucino hat. Nice. Wow...Sharp :) Vanilla caramel aroma. Bitter ginger and sharp chilli taste with little citrus fruits and mild vanilla comes up. Really hot finish with nice caramel hop taste. a very interesting experience.

Black pour, thick tan head with reddish hues on edges. Ample lacing. Nose is chili peppers, coffee, some roasted malts. Taste is rich chocolate, chili peppers, coffee beans. Lingering hot pepper burn. Smooth, full sticky mouthfeel. Body more like a stout, even an imperial stout, than a porter. This was way, way better than i had anticipated.

MalcolmTucker (924) - SCOTLAND - MAY 11, 2013
Bottle. Very good pour with a thick head. Rich aroma of smoke and chocolate. Luxurious body. Flavour is smoke, chocolaye, salt before the chilli rears it’s ugly head and ruins everthing. The chilli was too harsh and masked the other flavours. Would be a stunning beer if the chilli wasn’t being a dick.
