On Tap. Aroma: Rich stout with coffee, chocolate and some smoky roasted red pepper, though I didn’t notice it initially, it showed itself after a while in glass.
Palate: With time it gave a bit of a bite, though not too much.
Flavor: Sweet coffee and chocolate with a hint of roasted red pepper that, with time, comes out more on the mid-palate and finish to give it a spicy kick.
Comments: The flavors work well together and the pepper seemed subtle initially. Even as it warms up and gets a bit spicier, it isn’t overdone. A success. bdigital (658) - Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Draft @ FFF’s Anny Party...pours a dark black, the head on this is out-of-control. Nose is lite on the chili’s with more of a focus on the roasted malts and chocolate notes. Silky mouthfeel, lingering on the tongue...starts with some really nice dark chocolate notes, along with a bit of coffee...BUT THEN, the peppers come through. Wonderfully balanced, the chilis compliment the dark malts perfectly and leave a lingering burn. Admittedly, a full glass was a bit hard to get through, but still a damn fine brew. glennmastrange (2871) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Bottle. Moderate to heavy bitter chocolate, strong coffee and burnt for the malt, moderate resin and earth for the hops and yeast, with notes of tar, smoke and a whiskey type alcohol, Head is small, frothy, light brown with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is really dark brown, just about black. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and heavily bitter. Palate is medium to full, creamy, with a soft to lively carbonation and light capsaisin burn, dry in the mouth and sticky on the lips finish. A very good, bold and rich type beer. The chili burn at the end is a subtle and pleasant surprise. Chargedgs (8) - Michigan, USA - NOV 14, 2011 does not count
A very unique porter, had a little bit of spice and was very dark with only a small amount of light to shine through. It’s smelled just like most porters ive had with only a bit of spice in the nose. Overall a good offering from mikkeller wouldn’t drink this on a regular basis though

Bottle picked up in St Louis on the way to Nashville about a year ago. This is really cool. It starts like a really smokey, peaty porter and then finishes with a throat warming, pepper spice. I’d recommend sharing though. This was probably tough to make so well.

Did not really enjoy this beer - the mix of hops and peppers did not agree with me one bit. The beer looks fantastic but I found the taste to be too sharp with a bad pepper aftertaste. JB84 (649) - Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 5, 2011
Pour deep black with a dark tan brown head good lacing. Aroma smokey, anise, wood, coffee, chocolate, nice hopping, slight phenolic, roasty, slight nuttiness. Taste bbq smokey, roast, hickory, chocolate, coffee, pepper, some good heat from chipotle, good bitter hops, with some citrus hops in background. MF full creamy body with a good carb that opens up the palate. This is very well constructed brew and the best example of this style I have seen a truly enjoyable sipper. foundmd (210) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 4, 2011
750ml bottle. Pours opaque black with a two finger cappuccino head with some huge bubbles and awesome lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with a little chipotle smoke. Bold roasted flavor with dark chocolate and smoke. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Excellent lingering pepper burn at the back if the throat and a touch on the lips. Terrific. wekker84 (2360) - etten-leur, NETHERLANDS - NOV 3, 2011
