Courtesy of ericandersnavy. As Mikkeller Chipotle Porter. In a snifter. Pours black with a 3 finger dark tan lacey/clingy head. 3 fingers in a snifter? And 2 fingers of beer! I dont know what to say. My nose says food. Like Chipotle Tabasco. If you havent had that, get it . Full bodied with foamy carbonation. Flavor is chipotle tar. Or chipotle linoleum paste ( got to go back aways to get that one). I just whacked a hanbero sausage in the atomic atomizer, and I think it will go well with this. Its not chewy, but seems like it wants to be. Its hot. Not excessively so. But the heat does build a bit. So this is coffee/chipotle? Best I can do. Smooth. Burnt toast. But primarily chili. In the end it develops noticeable chili heat. My scalp is expressing water in response. This may not be super high on the Scoville scale, but it is on the scale.

Bottle - Chocolate and smoke with a bit of spice, almost like a Mole. Jet black with a creamy dark brown head. Bittersweet chocolate which mellows to an almost milk chocolate and finishes with some peppery heat on the back of the throat. I feel the chocolate notes overwhelm the real chipotle flavor, but I do still enjoy it.

750 ml bottle poured a translucent dark brown nearly black with a lasting creamy brown head and great lacing. Aromas of bitter chocolate, roastiness, earthiness, light smoke, light pepper and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry warming finish. Flavors of dark chocolate, roastiness, earthiness, light smoke, light chipotle and a hint of vanilla with a smooth dry warming lingering smokey chocolate finish.

Bottle. Poured hazy dark brown color with a large frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, wood and smoke aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted smoke malt bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where exceeded.

Keg at CP&K. It pours near black with a light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, light smoke, chilli, dark chocolate and earth. The taste is charcoal, tar, earth, roasted malt, light chilli spice, smoke, charcoal, toast, coffee grinds and mild acidity. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, good depth of flavour and well balanced. Well done.

On tap at Flying Saucer. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head that lasts awhile leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a smoky roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel with a spicy malt and chocolate and a nice smoky finish. Easy to drink, a very good spice from Mikkeller.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and light hoppy nice aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Alas too much chili. I hate chili in beer!. Long moderate bitter burning finish. Improoves with chocolate I must admit. Creamy palate.
