(sample at RBWG, 2011-Phoenix. Courtesy of Sparky!). Pours dark brown with tan head. Nice red hue. Aroma has chili, adobo and some band aid. Taste is roasty bitter wit ha metallic note. Chili burn on the tip of the tongue. Medium bodied with slick texture. Finish is bitter and heat is ramping up from the chipotle. Nice beer and surprisingly spicy. Appearance: deep near-black with a huge, rocky, creamy dark tan head that very slowly shrank to a thick cap and collar, with generous lace rings. Aroma: strong notes of chocolate, a whiff of coffee, growing notes of pine as it warms, and some black pepper. Taste: dark bitter chocolate, followed by roasty (almost burnt) coffee and pine, with black pepper spice. Finish: slowly rising (but low-burning) chipotle heat, with a chalky-dry mouth. Notes: Awesome. I’ve tried a handful of beers made with peppers (chipotles, acho chilis, etc) and this is by far the best and most nuanced. It’s really just a great porter with some nice chipotle notes that add depth, spice, and adventure without overpowering or dominating the backbone of the beer. Incredible palate as well: smooth and creamy, almost like liquid velvet, which really lets the flavors shine and the peppers sparkle. Bottled as Chipotle Porter, bottle from the Perfect Pour in Columbia, Maryland. kevinator (2205) - The Colony, Texas, USA - APR 25, 2015
Nice roasted pepper aroma. Great dark color with foamy dark tan head. Full bodied and thick. Great blend of roasted malt, wood and just a hint of chipotle pepper. Some kick on the back end. Beerdrinker79 (2188) - Idaho, USA - MAR 26, 2011
750 ml. bottle- Pours pitch black with a nice creamy mocha tan head and spiderweb lacing, beautiful beer. The aroma is very chocolatey with a spiciness in the background, peppery. The flavor is peppery up front, followed by chocolate, then smoky peppers (chipotles) and wood, very interesting. There is a definite jalapeno burn, especially in the back of the throat, this is one of the most interesting beers I have had in a long time, very experimental. The body is thick like chocolate milk, carbonation is low, finish is long, and spicy. Overall I haven’t had a beer that I was blown away like this in a long time, a winner for sure, or to quote Charlie Sheen "Winning". Loved it. fata2683 (2176) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - APR 10, 2011
enjoyed during 2011 RBWG pours brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is smoke, caramel, vegetal notes. Flavor is carmale malt sweetness with a nice peppery finish and chilli pepper flavor.

Rather impressive, the porter element of thing definitely holds up the front end with some slightly smokey, roasted/chocolate malt sweetness, and the finish has some lingering spice that turns up a notch after a bit. It gets to be a bit too spicy, and I say this as someone who has eaten ghost chilies and whole habanero peppers. Still very good, but glad I had 2 friends to share with. jjgmd (2161) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - OCT 29, 2013
Bottle. Pours a thick dark heavy black pour, with a massive java head. Nose is peppery, malty with notes of chocolate and roasted coffee. Taste is slightly peppery, but no real heat. Taste is sweet with notes of heavy malt and subtle
coffee. Finish is sweet with mild heat and a moderately long finish. Drinks easy. Quaff Score 7 / 10 Kita (2147) - Koper, SLOVENIA - SEP 5, 2014
Bottle, 0.33l, shared with Hoppiness crew. Murky dark brown color with medium creamy light brown head and nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, dried fruits with some peppery hints. Taste starts with moderate sweet and rich roasted malt, follows by chocolate note and fruity acidity. When beer gets warmer chipotle chili peppers break loose and create warming and tingling spicy mouthfeel, while spiciness is still present in medium bitter aftertaste. Full body, syrupy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Above excellent... mgajdaczewa (2143) - Katowice, POLAND - AUG 8, 2014
