Black color, medium brown head. Aroma of coffee, licorice, dark chocolate and smoked bacon. Taste has dark chocolate, licorice, roasted malt and hot pepper, dry sweet with bitter finish and mildly hot aftertaste. Full body and soft to medium carbonation. Interesting hot beer and overall quite good porter. BeerBeCue (103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 15, 2014
12.7 oz bottle poured into tulip (brewed in Belgium). Pours a nice deep, almost black brown with a 1/2 inch-thick head. Aroma is of roasted malts, oak & whiskey, chipotle, and quite earthy. Taste is bittersweet, leaning more towards the bitter end. There is also some heat from the chipotle. Not too much but it certainly can be felt. This is actually fun! First time I’ve had a brew with some pepper in it so I might be a bit biased, but still. Texture is slick/thin, with light carbo. Finish is a lil’ bit bitter and the oak sticks for some time. Overall this was quite the surprise! I can see (well actually taste) why it’s so well rated...! Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted and chocolate malts, chipotle and other spices, light coffee, prunes, and light booze. Flavor is dry, roast malts, chocolate, espresso, earthy notes, pepper spice, and some dark fruit esters; dry finish with a touch of ash. Medium body and carbonation. stravale (3135) - Co. Pitch black, big dirty tan frothy head, good lacing
Aroma of smoked chilli, roasted malts, rich dark malts, savoury malts, complex aroma
Taste of rich dark malts, smoked chilli, dark chocolate, bit of soy, slight fruity hop underneath all those dark malts, chilli is hot but not too much
Palate - Soft carb, medium to full body, chewy rich texture, very smooth, sweet dark malts, hot chilli. Finish - nice lingering chilli heat, quite dry.
Overall - Really good chilli stout, and the chilli heat is integrated here rather than disjointed.
Bottle at Barbers fake Christmas day do, bought from Brewtique, Macclesfield. Poured very dark brown with a brown head. Aroma I’m really liking the hint of chilli, chocolate, leather. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, some smoke, I really liked the amount of chilli kick in the flavour too. I love chilli and I love chilli beer when done right like this. Interesting and tasty.

Aroma of coffee, chocolate, smoke, dried fruits, chilli. Tasted more coffee-ish than the coffee my girlfriend was drinking at the same time. Sweet and spicy, dark malts. Better than the texas manger. Excellent by all means. Smalle (228) - Leuven, BELGIUM - AUG 11, 2014
Bottle at home. Very thick: black and oily.
Smells of roasted malt, black coffee, dark chocolate. Distinct smokeyness.
The taste is heavily roasted malt going towards burnt. Smokey
I’m not getting much of the chili, maybe a bit of heat in the finish. Stuu666 (14805) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 26, 2014
