Shared this bottle with people in line at the CBS release. Poured from a 750ml into my Deschutes snifter.
A: Pours a dark brown with a nice khaki head and leaves a webbed lace down the glass.
S: Smells of green peppers, a little chocolate and a little malt bill. The pepper is dominated which I expected.
T: The taste blows the smell out of the water. A great smokiness is present first and foremost. The spice from the chipotle gives it a great kick and there is a green paper freshness that is great. There is a slight sweet chocolate on the backend that really rounds it out.
M: Refreshing and spicy, medium bodied with a nice carbonation.
O: The nose wasn’t too inviting but the taste more than made up for it. Very well balanced. The best pepper beer out there.

On tap. Aroma very smoky, dark malts and some hops. Taste is smoked, lots of astringent dark malts. The chili comes creeping, and it’s not too strong. Nice beer jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - APR 12, 2013
750ml bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts, some pepper, a little smokiness, and some light hops. Flavor the same with a nice amount of pepper and a lot of dark malts. Smooth texture. A pretty good beer. Rob_D_UK (1369) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAY 19, 2013
Pours balck with a brown head. Hops and dark malts in aroma. Notes of dark chocolate. Taste is hoppy at first, then malty (coffee and chocolate). The aftertaste is quite spectacular with notes of smoke, bitter dark chocolate and some chili. Got this courtesy of a friend who did not care for it at all. On tap at Ale & Hop in Barcelona. Pours a black body with an inch thick, dense and creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma has lots of rich dark chocolates, roasts, and a light milky sweetness. Touches of molasses as well as some pepper and earth. Flavor is big and rich dark chocolates up front with a nice roastiness. Some milky chocolates add a light sweetness in the middle before a solid earthy, spicy pepper flavor comes in. Touches of vanilla before this gets fairly hot and finishes dry, roasty, somewhat bitter, and very peppery before leaving a lengthy, hotter aftertaste. Medium-full body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a really nice beer. A bit sweet and rich, but plenty of roasts and a great peppery heat that never gets too out of balance. Good one. jimhilt (2610) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - OCT 25, 2013
Pours a three finger brown head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Black color, no highlights, some of yeast left in bottle. Good carbonation and heavy bodied. Chocolate nose and flavor is almost sweet chocolate, coffee and hints of chipotle spiciness. Beyond expensive (what was I thinking?) at $18.99 for a 375ml bottle from Julio’s Liquors Marlboro, MA.
