UPDATED: DEC 19, 2015 RERATE - still a frightfully good beer, but needed a bit of a bump up on the overall stakes as the hops seem to be more punchy giving it a better overall feel. ORIG - What better way to celebrate todays Dem victory than drinking a fantastic ’Merkin beer! Yes I know its Danish but I needed an excuse to drink this beer as it is frightfully $$$ in NZ. The brett is not as pronounced in this beer as the Rayon V, but in this case the subtlety adds to the beers flavour profile.
From tap at Salon Piva, Bratislava. Nearly clear amber color with a slightly beige white head. The aroma reminds me a little bit of a Barley Wine, pretty malty, biscuit, toasted bread, honey, butter, slightly yeasty, some funk, lightly hoppy. Medium to full body with a light to medium sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor is light to medium malty (bread, biscuit) and medium hoppy (pine, resin).

Aroma of barley, sour, clear amber colour with small white head. Taste of hops, raisins, sour, medium bitterness. Finish is sour and bitter. Nice one jinroh (2018) - ESTONIA - AUG 22, 2017
Pours nice amber, sticky white foam. Brett nose with some yeasty funk and hoppy apple marmalade. Taste displays a sturdy body, that has been made lighter with brett and this funky-just-a-bit-sour-but-quite-bitter flavour. Feels like a funky brett barleywine, sturdy and hoppy. Dry brett bitterness in the finish, quite enjoyable actually. MatusBeer (711) - Košice, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - AUG 10, 2017

Very nice Brett in the nose. Taste is a nice balance between hops, Brett-yeast. The Brett is there but not on the fore. Creamy palate.

Some taste of bittersweet fruits, strong bitter foundation, amber/red colour, citrusy hoppy bretty smell. An interesting one timer, but wouldn’t go crazy for another round. VDuquerroux (1774) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - JUL 16, 2017
Bottle, 11.2 fl.oz. Home. A sparkling mahogany amber clear beer with a big off-white foamy head ; good retention and lacing. Citrus, resin, herb, tropical fruits, "cider". Medium dry bitter, light warming, light sweet, light acid, light fresh. Medium body, light to medium texture, average good carbonation, dry warming acid finish. Overall, delicious, such a strong exotic Orval ; maybe slightly too strong after all... javiercrasher (619) - Granada, SPAIN - JUN 2, 2017
Tap Takeover Mikkeller. Sorpresa. Me ha parecido muy compleja. Algo lupulada, algo de levadura belgas... La apunto para probarla más tranquilamente. Malin_aiisa (1205) - SWEDEN - JUN 2, 2017
