One of the amazing small 250 ml bottles thanks to Papsoe. Pours a pure black color with a medium brown head. The aroma is rich roasted malts, chocolates, whiskey, woody, dark fruit, hot and syrupy. The flavor is wonderful; a wonderful barrel treatment, whiskey, copious amounts of dark fruit, earthy, shovels of peat, a finish that is long and lingering sweet almost like brandy. Wonderful. joergen (27982) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 22, 2010

Thanks to cgarvieuk for this little bottle. Pours deep brown with a foam like thick dark tan head. Beautiful beer. The foamy head leaves an incredible lace on the glass. Nose is huge with oak, molasses, chocolate, and some dark vinous fruit. Flavor is full and complex with chocolate, Whiskey, roasted malt and oak. Full mouthfeel and a roasted slight bitter lasting finish. Thanks Craig! wavers1 (916) - Notown, California, USA - AUG 7, 2010
super thick opaque black pour with a lively dark brown head, very nice pour. aroma is salty, whiskey, smoke, charred wood, peat, etc. the taste is slightly more balanced than implied by the nose, with more of the base beer coming through. lots of smoke, peat and burnt oak from the barrel. the palate is nice and creamy, a lil too much soot in the afterfinish for my personal preference, which is not much. a great, smokey beer, delicious!

Bottle. A gorgeous looking beer, black as can be, and topped by a finger-thick tan head. Licorice, roasted malts, alcohol, peat and a hint of cooked vegetables in the aroma. The flavor has a lovely hoppyness giving bitterness too, with roasted malts, peat, salty licorice and some sweetness. Sweet, warming finish that lasts. Full-bodied and warming. Just plain lovely. 100409 hopscotch (11048) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUN 11, 2010
Bottle (2008)… This beer rocks!… Pours tar black with a large, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The bouquet is a luxurious blend of pouch tobacco, blackstrap molasses, Cuban espresso, charcoal and blueberry. Full-bodied with a motor oil mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. The bittersweet flavor is a delicious blend of espresso, black chocolate, blueberry, whiskey and oak. Alcohol and mocha finish. Warms you right up even when you don’t need warming. Kudos to Grovlam for bringing this world class beer with him to Miami in late 2008! darkguardian (733) - Florida, USA - MAY 31, 2010
Pours a deep black with a big viscous tan head. Nose is wood, light smoke and berry and tons of malt and molasses. Flavor is tons of black malt with low roastiness and lots of fruity and whiskey character. Finishes with hints of tobacco and berry. Cool and quite fantastically made.
