A black colored beer, with a dark beige head, with big bubbles. The aroma of smoke, with fruit and chocolate malt and notes of wood. The taste of bitter chocolate with smoke moving over to whisky and alcohol in the back it’s dry. The aftertaste is dry and bitter with alcohol. Gr0ve (2177) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 3, 2009
250 ml bottle. Pitch black. Tall coarse beige head that disintegrates quickly leaving only traces at the edges. Acidic nose with roasted malts and an oily alcohol impression. Fairly low carbonation level. Roasty cigarette ash malt flavours. Sweet and malty. Intense burning flavours. Very nice. To be enjoyed in small sips. kiefdog (1826) - Tampa, Florida, USA - AUG 27, 2009
Bottle courtesy of Ibrew2or3. Pours a pitch black color with tan two finger head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of wood, vanilla, smoke, ripe dark fruit, caramel, some light chocolate. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of chocolate, ripe dark fruit, wood, vanilla, whisky, light notes of molasses and brown sugar. Generally medium to full body with a boozy and whisky finish. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - AUG 20, 2009
Thanks IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours dark brown/ black with big foamy dark tan head. Nose is whiskey to burn off nose hairs, chocolate, and some roast. Flavor is similar with a shit-ton of whiskey and the associated burning sensation. Full-bodied with lingering whiskey. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 17, 2009
Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours deep dark with full bubbly rubbly dark tan head. The aroma is full force goodness with chocolate, oak, sweet whiskey, roastiness and black strap molasses. The taste is rich with chocolate coated oak, molasses and some booziness like whiskey. It moves toward dryness with some booze and a touch of roasted malts that seems to be setting the plate for rich molasses and a solid oak table of woody goodness. Tons of fun going on here.

Botled. Pitch black. Fluffy black head. Pours a think and oily liquid into the glass. Roast, brown sugar, alcohol, oak and prunes dominate the aroma. Flavour of roast, sugar, oak, whiskey, sweetness and light alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Dry. Heavily roasty and quite alcoholdense end, eventhough the alcohol primarily shows as warmth on lips and palate. Not my favourite in the series, but still a fun beer. anders37 (26641) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUL 8, 2009
Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty whisky aroma with hints of chocolate, licorice and vanilla. Roasted malty chocolate and licorice flavor with some hints of wood. Has a roasted malty dark chocolate and licorice finish with hints of whisky in the aftertaste. MatSciGuy (907) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 28, 2009
[Bottle] shared by guerde. Pours viscous black with a small tan head. Aroma is fairly sweet, lots of barrel, licorice, alcohol, vanilla, espresso, and a little smoke. Flavor is somewhat sweet, less alcohol flavor than the nose suggests, really roasty, super dark chocolate, whiskey, and a light bitterness. tyler_mn (1475) - SLP, Minnesota, USA - JUN 25, 2009
Backlog rating. Nip bottle. Aroma of molasses, soy, whiskey soaked wood. Dark, charred marshmallow. A bit of smoke. Plenty of charred malts. Dark, dark chocolate and some French Roast too. Pours oily black with a thin and fleeting dark khaki head. Flavor is big, thick, boozy and sweet. Dark chocolate. Whiskey. Molasses. A touch of soy with some smoke to round everything out. Not as full bodied as I’d like. Slightly oily with a hot, sharp finish. A decent, albeit unspectacular BA Impy. Without many flaws, but not really my cup of tea. Thanks for the treat Andy and Al!
