250 ml bottle from Ølbutikken. Airy big-bubbeled choco head. Body is opaque black. Sweet, wooden fruit aroma. Also burned malts, espresso and vanilla. Bitter-sweet, roasted malt flavor, added by bitter licorice dark fruits, fresh wood and a distinct earthy hopbitterness. Full body. Creamy texture. Stong bitterness and wood in the finish. Potent stuff. cheeta (1181) - Langå, DENMARK - NOV 29, 2008

25 cl bottle. Thanks to my brother for sharing. Huge thick fin bubbled brown lasting head. Good display of lacework. This was as black as the night. Heavy complex aroma of berries, whisky, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, wood, mild floral, candies. Quite sweet over the palate with some liquorish and again strong berries notes as the base. Full bodied with a surprisingly lively carbonation and thick dry alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor with good counter bitterness. Lingering warming liquorish, chocolate and berries finish. Lovely...... no actually this was excellent!!! cellar (508) - Dublin, IRELAND - NOV 17, 2008
Pitch black, tiny head, Dark hard burned malty aroma of lots of wood, whisky, dark coffee and dark chocolate. Almost like smelling a good whisky. Well balanced, alco well hidden. Sweet flavour and long bitter finish. I was crying as I emptying the glass... way too fast! after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - NOV 2, 2008
250. Thanks, Thewolf! Jet black and oily. Headless and laceless. Big roasty plummy pruney licoricey nose. Thick oily body. All the roast, fruits, and licorice come back for the mid-palate, along with a ton of booze. Perfumey on the mid-palate as well. Slightly bitey, roasty finish. Probably my fault for opening it too soon, but this beer would rate a bit higher if the booze were masked better. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2008

This one really hit the spot for me. But then again, that’s not unusual from one of my favourite brewers. Black body (no shit?) with a thin tan collar. More bourbon than whisky in the nose but GOD it works with a typical Mikkeller blackness underneath. Awesome flavour. Waaaaaay more fruit than I was expecting but it’s wrapped up in plenty of salty, peaty awesomeness. Hints of cola in the finish which I really enjoyed. Beautiful level of alcohol warmth. Palate is Mikkel at his best. Stunning stuff.
Bottled. VERY black, airy head. Strong aroma of licorice and marzipan. Sweet with lots of licorice and evident whisky. Warming and rich, very powerful. Whisky lingers forever, leaving traces in form of peat and alcohol heat.
