25 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a huge creamy chocolate brown head. Slowly collapsing in big bubbles. Aroma is mild whiskey to a solid roasted malt and smooth chocolate aroma. Whiskey flavoured through another imperial stout variant of hard roasted malt, chocolate, mild bitterness and sweet - etc etc. Good evening sipper.

Draft. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, bread, and alcohol, leading to a very dry and roasted finish. Over the top for me

Bottled (bought from Olbutikken). Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is licorice, some slight whiskynotes as well as big time chocolate and coffeeish notes. Flavour is chocolate, coffee, some mild licorice as well as some whiskynotes. Also some slight alcohol is noteable. Quite wellbalanced even though this strong. Quite rich carbonation, which even more makes this a sipper.

Bottled. VERY black, airy head. Strong aroma of licorice and marzipan. Sweet with lots of licorice and evident whisky. Warming and rich, very powerful. Whisky lingers forever, leaving traces in form of peat and alcohol heat.

Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 1, 2009
Bottle 25 cl. Pours an opaque black with a tall, lively and very rough head that fades fairly quickly. Intensely sweet aroma of chocolate and vanilla - almost liqueurish. Full-bodied with a lively carbonation, hard roasted malts, vanilla and syrup - and perhaps a wee fusty edge deriving from the barrel while the whisky accents are rather subdued. Malt bitter finish. Turns a bit into cough syrup in the end. 271208

Copenhagen. Opaque black beer. Palate starts crisp, turns frothy. Flavour is warming dark malts with an appley sweetness. Alcohol spice. Not much barrel here. Decent enough - strong and dark.

Bottle at home ... from Ölbutikken six pack ... deep black ... big bubbly short lived brown head ... deep roast malt little whiskey little chocolate nose ... big foaming of the beer in the mouth ... solid deep roast ... a lot and maybe just a little too much whiskey ... little bitterness ... nice roast chocolate and coffee .. its the foaming that lets this down a bit.
